Prolec GE Waukesha is seeking a Test Manager, a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all transformer testing operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and on-time execution of testing activities for large power transformers.

As the strategic leader of the testing department, the Test Manager champions continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, lean manufacturing, process standardization, and test system reliability. You will ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, ANSI, and customer-specific testing requirements while advancing testing capabilities and best practices across the organization. Serving as the department's technical expert, you will provide leadership in transformer testing and diagnostics, support customer interactions and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to enhance product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the transformer testing organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives, quality standards, customer requirements, and production commitments.
  • Lead and develop testing personnel, including Supervisors, Test Engineers, and the Equipment Maintenance Team by defining expectations, setting goals, and creating development and succession plans.
  • Establish department priorities, resource plans, staffing strategies, and capital investment requirements to support current and future business needs. 
  • Drive safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and continuous improvement objectives across the testing function.
  • Ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, ANSI, and customer-specific testing requirements.
  • Serve as the technical authority on transformer testing, diagnostics, and standards interpretation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and act as the primary customer-facing technical expert for testing-related matters.
  • Provide executive oversight of root cause investigations and corrective actions related to test failures, quality issues, and customer concerns.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving standards.
  • Represent the organization in relevant industry associations and standards bodies, including IEEE and IEC, as appropriate.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience conducting electrical testing in a manufacturing, utility, or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and power equipment.

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with high-voltage transformers and transformer test systems.
  • Knowledge of transformer diagnostics, testing methodologies, and laboratory operations.
  • Strong understanding of transformer design principles, electrical systems, insulation systems, magnetics, heat transfer, dielectrics, and materials.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, and customer testing standards.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Proven ability to develop talent through coaching, succession planning, training, and performance management.
  • Financial and business acumen, including budgeting, cost management, and capital planning.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Project management, resource planning, budgeting, and capital planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and serve as customer-facing technical lead
  • Practical knowledge of HV transformers and/or High Voltage Test Systems
