Job Description
Job Summary:
UOB Innovation Hub 2 (IH2) is a specialized offshore technology delivery center for United Overseas Bank (UOB) located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, focused on developing digital banking solutions. The tech Environment Manager role is to support and strengthening environmental service delivery through technical service build execution with robust governance, coordination, and process management.
Key Responsibilities Summary:
This role leads and mentors a technical team based in IH2, drives service build contributions, and ensures environments are delivered consistently, securely, and aligned to enterprise standards to support application testing, performance, and regression activities.
The role is responsible for two core service pillars:
Environmental Services Build & Technical Delivery:
Lead and oversee test environment build activities delivered from IH2.
Provide technical leadership across virtualized environment and delivery of environmental build activities with strong infrastructure and platform competency:
Infrastructure Build: Linux and Windows Server (installation, configuration, hardening, scripting).
Database Deployment: MSSQL, Oracle DB
Middleware Deployment: Apache Web Services, JBoss EAP, Oracle WebLogic, supporting triaging of IBM MQ related environment issues, IBM Sterling Connect Direct (CD) for files transfer.
File Transfer & Integration Services: SFTP service setup, configuration, access control, and troubleshooting.
Networking: Coordinate and raise change requests for firewall rules, network access, DNS and connectivity requirements. Work closely with network and security teams to ensure compliance with policies.
Central Governance & Coordination Function – Acting as the single point of accountability for environment governance, cross-team coordination, and process adherence.
Act as the central point of governance for environment management, ensuring adherence to processes and standards.
Facilitate environment requirement gathering, conflict resolution, and allocation management across projects.
Coordinate end-to-end environment setup, delivery, and connectivity, including dependency, risk, and issue tracking.
Spearhead the environment activities, including issue triage and resolution. Lead coordination of data restoration, migration, and sizing activities, ensuring availability of test data for functional, performance, regression testing, and mock executions.
Govern environment availability and maintenance, including downtime impact assessment, planning of maintenance activities, and stakeholder communication.
Perform environment monitoring, health checks, and reporting (daily, weekly, monthly), including post-deployment (hyper care) support.
Demonstrate knowledge of data center operations and disaster recovery (DR) procedures
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline
Minimum 8–12 years of IT experience, with at least 3–5 years in environment management / infrastructure delivery roles
Proven experience in leading technical teams and managing multi-environmental delivery.
Strong infrastructure technical competency+ environment management background
Proven governance and coordination experience
Ability to lead teams and deliver end-to-end environmental services.
