Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Join us as an Automation Tester at Barclays where you will spearhead testing of multiple projects or modules and coordinating with teams to understand requirements, test planning, test execution, functional/automation testing across different phub feature teams

To be successful as an Automation Tester, you should have experience with:

Test Planning & Execution

  • Delivery of test plan, test scenarios & test closure as per provided requirements & timelines.

  • Able to work on one or multiple projects of varying complexity, undertaking the following activities, maintaining overall accountability for the work of the team in terms of quality and timeliness of delivery:

    • Strong understanding of functional testing, regression testing, system testing & integration testing.

    • Strong understanding of test life cycle

    • Strong analytical skills

    • Supporting and coaching

    • Issue escalation

    • Validation of plans and progress management

    • Hands-on experience of test cases/scenarios writing & test execution

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Relevant experience in API automation testing using Python/Java –Selenium based or any other API centric gherkins(BDD) based framework

  • Extensive experience into E2E test management activities right from project test initiation to closedown phase.

  • Should be well versed with methodologies such as Agile/Kanban/Hybrid.

  • Should be well versed with implementation and designing of the TDD & BDD using Cucumber & Selenium framework for moving towards CI /CD.

  • Should be involved in test automation projects right from the framework design, framework amendments to execution.

  • Should have experience in story point estimation technique or business case estimation.

  • Well versed with setting-up Test Environment with required test data & appropriate level of access

  • Strong in SQL/PL-SQL & Unix

  • Hands on experience in automation & scripting

  • Experience of converting BA stories into test scenarios/cases.

  • Well versed with test management tool i.e. Quality Center/JIRA

  • Well versed with defect lifecycle

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

The role is based out of PUNE.

Skills Required

  • Test planning, test scenarios, test execution and test closure
  • Functional, regression, system and integration testing expertise
  • Understanding of the test lifecycle and hands-on test case writing
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Hands-on experience in automation and scripting
  • Strong SQL / PL-SQL skills and Unix experience
  • Experience with test management tools (JIRA, Quality Center)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to validate plans, manage progress, escalate issues and support/coaching
  • Experience converting BA stories into test scenarios/cases
  • API automation testing using Python or Java, Selenium or API-centric BDD frameworks
  • Designing and implementing TDD & BDD using Cucumber and Selenium for CI/CD
  • End-to-end test management experience from initiation to closeout
  • Familiarity with Agile/Kanban/Hybrid methodologies and story point estimation
  • Experience setting up test environments and test data
  • Familiarity with defect lifecycle management
