JOB DESCRIPTION
The Test Engineer will be responsible for all aspects relating to the setup, monitoring, data acquisition and communication of results for various safety and durability tests. Individual will work with a team to create consistent, repeatable test methods utilizing a wide array of test equipment.
Job Tasks & Responsibilities
o Instruct technicians by creating work instructions using Federal (FMVSS, etc.) and OEM test specifications.
o Upload test dates/results/information into internal database.
o Ensure testing deadlines are continually met.
o Process acquired data from various types of equipment including load cells, accelerometers, string potentiometers, LVDT.
o Assist with daily scheduling of tests, customer visits and equipment operation.
o Present data to internal/external customers.
o Collaborate with different departments to advance processes, procedures and quality.
Candidate Requirements
o 5+ Years minimum experience in a test environment.
o Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering required.
o Interpersonal skills are essential as the position involves working with numerous departments and functions.
o Positive attitude and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.
o Ability to use MS Office Suite effectively.
o Strong knowledge of test instrumentation.
o Ability to create and execute tests on a component level as well as a complete system; recommend design changes based on outcomes.
o Minimal travel required to support program-related tasks, including trips to other test facilities, customers and suppliers.
Preferred Requirements
o Experience with seat testing.
o Familiarity with FMVSS/ECE and other government tests relating to seating (202A, 207/210, etc)
o CAD modeling experience.
o Knowledge of servo electric, pneumatic and servo hydraulic actuators and control.
o Ability to interface with CAE team for test correlation efforts.
o Knowledge of CAN-bus protocol is a plus.
o Understanding of computer programming concepts will be helpful in troubleshooting equipment and software.
