We are hiring a Test Engineer to support key programs at NSWC Crane. The selected candidate will support research and development testing efforts for Counter-Unmanned Systems (C-UxS) programs. This individual will plan, execute, and document test activities for unmanned systems and related subsystems operating in contested and complex operational environments, working closely with engineers, scientists, and government stakeholders to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and mission requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and execute test plans, test procedures, and test cases for unmanned systems, subsystems, and components under development.
- Support test and evaluation (T&E) activities across the development lifecycle, including component-level testing, integration testing, developmental testing, and field/operational testing.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to support test execution.
- Collect, reduce, and analyze test data; prepare clear and accurate test reports summarizing results, anomalies, and recommendations.
- Identify test discrepancies, troubleshoot system or test setup issues, and support root-cause analysis in coordination with engineering staff.
- Support development of modeling and simulation efforts used to inform test planning and predict system performance.
- Coordinate with government customers and program staff to schedule test events, secure test ranges/facilities, and ensure test safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test configurations, procedures, and results in accordance with program and contract requirements.
- Support risk identification related to test schedules, resourcing, or technical performance, and communicate findings to the PMO and technical leadership.
- Assist in the preparation of technical briefings, test readiness reviews, and program review materials.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality assurance processes, and applicable government test regulations.
- Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
- Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field.
- 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- DoD T&E experience for hardware/software systems.
- Ability to design test plans, develop Test Program Sets (TPSs), engineer test beds and automated support systems, execute test events, and document results.
- Experience with T&E of sensor, EW, or C-UxS technologies.
- Familiarity with DoT&E processes and formal V&V methodologies.
- Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
- Must have an active Secret US Government clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree and or Ph.D
- Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
Compensation Details:
$85,000 - $180,000
