- Act as a technical lead for the space vehicle test automation team
- Work closely with systems engineering and program management to define verification strategies and timelines.
- Develop, execute, and manage complex test plans for mission-specific verification.
- Plan, design, develop, and execute both manual and automated tests cases, including documentation and trouble shooting.
- Identify and develop automation to improve the space vehicle production line, including ground support equipment, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and software-in-the-loop testing.
- Maintain and improve test software architecture, style guidelines, and review processes.
- Work in conjunction with flight software and ground software to grow simulation testing and CI/CD pipelines across the company and programs.
- Identify testing methods and test fixturing for risk mitigation, prototype development and requirement verification.
- Plan and execute environmental qualification and testing of hardware, including functional testing, vibration testing, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, deployments, and other qualification tests.
- Interface with the customer by negotiating test requirements and methods, jointly developing plans, and communicating and reporting on test progress.
- Represent test engineering at major program milestones and act as expert reviewer at Test Readiness Reviews.
- Develop, Update and identify key performance indicators for the test automation team.
- Plan and support regression testing activities during test campaigns and on-orbit support.
- Guide/mentor younger engineers in the test engineering process.
- Perform management duties including regular one on ones, performance evaluations, coaching/mentorship, hiring, training, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience as a test engineer, experience managing a team
- Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and develop high-performing test engineering teams.
- Strong project management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Ability to establish and measure key performance metrics and quality assurance processes.
- Hands-on experience in space and small satellites, including satellite components.
- Experience testing hardware for space environments.
- Significant experience with writing and executing manual and/or automated test procedures.
- Significant experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, or similar.
- Significant experience with software configuration management tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Experience in overseeing and processing data from environmental tests such as Vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and/or thermal-vacuum testing.
- Familiar with writing test documentation, such as test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Experience with the full program lifecycle.
- Experience overseeing and executing the full software development lifecycle.
- Experience with preparing and leading project stage-gate meetings (such as CDR, TRR, etc.) and interfacing with customers.
- Experience working in Linux and Windows environments.
- Experience with simulation testing.
- Functional leadership experience (such as reviewing performance and providing performance feedback).
- Active security clearance.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD testing and NASA GEVS testing standards.
