Job Summary:


The Territory Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of approximately 15 convenience store locations within an assigned territory. Reporting to the Region Manager, this role focuses on driving store performance, ensuring operational efficiency, and promoting a consistent and positive customer experience. The Territory Manager will work directly with store managers, coaching and developing them to achieve sales, customer service, and operational goals in line with company standards. Additionally, the position is responsible for managing fast food offerings within the convenience stores, ensuring food safety and food quality, as well as overseeing the commercial fuel business within the assigned territory, including lead generation and B2B sales.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Leadership
    • Oversee daily operations across all stores in the territory, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and brand standards.
    • Support store managers in achieving key performance metrics, including sales, labor management, and inventory control.
    • Conduct regular store visits to assess operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  2. Team Management & Development
    • Hire, train, and develop store managers, creating a culture of accountability, growth, and customer service excellence.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, set development goals, and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to store managers.
    • Lead team meetings and provide clear communication of company goals, expectations, and updates to store teams.
  3. Financial Oversight
    • Assist in managing the territory’s budget and financial performance, ensuring stores operate within their allocated budgets and meet financial targets.
    • Analyze store-level financial data to identify trends, address underperforming areas, and maximize profitability.
    • Work with store managers to create action plans aimed at achieving sales growth and reducing expenses.
  4. Customer Experience
    • Ensure each store provides a high-quality shopping experience, maintaining store cleanliness, organization, and product availability.
    • Address and resolve escalated customer complaints or issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Implement company-wide customer service initiatives and monitor their effectiveness within the territory.
  5. Compliance & Quality Control
    • Ensure all stores comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards, including sanitation, licensing, and operational requirements.

    • Conduct regular store audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.

  6. Fast Food Management
    • Ensure food safety and quality standards are consistently maintained.

    • Oversee the preparation and presentation of fast food items.

    • Implement and monitor food safety protocols and procedures.

  7. Commercial Fuel Business
    • Generate leads for commercial fuel sales within the assigned territory.

    • Develop and maintain relationships with B2B clients.

    • Achieve sales targets and expand the commercial fuel customer base.

  8. Collaboration & Strategic Execution
    • Collaborate with the Region Manager to support Region goals and align territory objectives with broader company initiatives.

    • Assist in the implementation of new company policies, marketing programs, and operational improvements within the territory.

    • Provide feedback and insights to the Region Manager regarding store performance, staffing needs, and territory-specific challenges.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in multi-unit management or store management within the retail or convenience store industry.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for education.

  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

    • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

    • Financial acumen, with experience in managing budgets, reviewing P&L statements, and analyzing financial data.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
