Role Purpose

The Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable terminal operations. Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will lead operational teams during your shift, ensuring optimal use of labor and equipment while driving a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys being close to operations, coaching teams, and translating plans into disciplined execution on the ground.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
  • Lead, motivate, and instruct operational teams to deliver safe and productive shift performance.

  • Actively supervise ongoing operations, remaining visible and accessible on the terminal at all times.

  • Serve as the focal point for operational issues within your assigned area (vessel, yard, or gate).

Planning & Execution
  • Structure tasks, set clear priorities, and organize resources to ensure efficient daily execution.

  • Allocate and control operational staff and equipment under the direction of the Shift Manager to meet planned objectives.

  • Ensure quay crane idle time is minimized to support smooth and continuous operations.

People Management & Discipline
  • Maintain appropriate standards of discipline during the shift, escalating any violations to the Shift Manager as required.

  • Provide clear guidance and coaching to support employee development and strengthen team capability.

  • Coordinate and supervise outsourced equipment operators to ensure alignment with operational standards.

Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure strict adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices at all times.

  • Conduct regular process control checks and actively initiate or support performance improvement activities.

  • Promote a learning-oriented environment by applying Lean principles and encouraging operational excellence across teams.

What We Are Looking ForEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in container terminal operations or a similar operational environment.

Technical & Operational Expertise
  • Strong understanding of container terminal operations, vessel cargo logistics, and yard/gate activities.

  • Solid knowledge of hazardous and special cargo handling, IMO regulations, and international safety standards.

  • Proficient in modern terminal planning and control systems, with advanced computer skills.

Skills & Mindset
  • Fluent in English.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, with experience conducting process checks and driving performance enhancements.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
