Summary
Temporary Workforce Billing Customer Transaction Representative, under general supervision, performs customer billing and account transaction work for NIPSCO. This temporary role supports billing operations by processing account transactions, resolving billing issues, assisting customer inquiries, and completing related administrative work in accordance with established procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Review and resolve billing exceptions, adjustments, and transaction issues from work queues, reports, calls, correspondence, and email.
Compute and process bills for actual usage, estimated usage, unmeasured service, and special billing scenarios.
Collaborate with Meter Processing, Meter Operations, and Customer Service as needed
Support customer service by responding to billing questions, service inquiries, complaints, and account-related requests.
Back Office duties as assigned. Customer applications, life support, autopay, deposits, refunds, and tax exemption documentation.
Maintain billing-related contracts, files, records, and required documentation.
Perform clerical and administrative duties such as filing, issuing duplicate bills, and operating office equipment.
Required Qualifications for Position
High school diploma or equivalent required
Demonstrated ability to operate a computer
Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel
Possesses a professional telephone manner and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers in a knowledgeable, tactful, and courteous manner.
Strong analytical background with the ability to interpret data, identify discrepancies
Preferred
Utility billing experience specific to gas and electric accounts
Attaching an up-to-date resume is highly encouraged.

Salary Range*:
$21.12 - $23.80*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
