Position Overview:

The temporary development consultant will support fundraising activities during the Director of Institutional Giving's leave. Primary responsibilities include prospect research, qualification, contact identification for foundations, corporate philanthropy, and strategic partnerships.

Additional responsibilities will include limited grant development and other development support as needed. This individual will work primarily behind the scenes, independently executing clearly defined assignments rather than managing external funder relationships.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Research Vibrant's existing universe of institutional prospects and identify additional opportunities as appropriate
  • Develop a refined, actionable portfolio of foundation and corporate prospects that can support targeted cultivation
  • Determine prospect qualification and programmatic alignment with Vibrant’s main focus areas: suicide prevention and crisis care; disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience; workforce mental health and specialized crisis support; and mental health policy, advocacy, and systems change
  • Research corporate philanthropy and strategic partnerships
  • Deliver a refined and prioritized institutional prospect portfolio containing actionable research, relevant contacts, and potential funding and partnership opportunities
  • Support grant development and proposal creation. Provide targeted support for a limited number of institutional funding opportunities during the engagement. This individual will not independently submit proposals or communicate with funders
  • As capacity permits, support other priority projects identified by the Chief Development Officer or the AVP, Development. Assignments may include individual prospect research and segmentation, database updates, and internal briefing materials

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience with prospect research or institutional fundraising

The range listed reflects the compensation parameters for the role and does not represent the full compensation package.
