MRO Buyer and Sourcing Specialist - INDIRECT MATERIALS: PROCUREMENT
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Procurement MRO Buyer and Sourcing Specialist: Indirect Materials to be based at Springs Gauteng. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Indirect Procurement.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The SAF (South Africa) Indirect MRO buyer and sourcing specialist is a senior operational and tactical role responsible for McCain Manufacturing Plants situated in Delmas, Springs, Marble Hall, and/or Lichtenburg, to secure Stock and Non-stock materials and once-off Maintenance Services. A vision and plan to build a best-in-class procurement team across the business in its entirety will be in focus for the next few years. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing a cross-functional MRO roadmap/strategy in SAF.
The MRO buyer and Sourcing Specialist will contribute and mainly be responsible for local McCain plants and occasionally give input to regional and global strategies. The MRO Buyer and Sourcing Specialist will execute sourcing & automation strategies to deliver security of supply and sustainable cost savings for the business. Understanding the current MRO workstreams and developing robust processes will be key to the role. Stakeholder engagement and collaboration is critical.
This category includes the purchasing of all Maintenance Materials and Maintenance Services. The spend for this category will range from R100 - R120 million annually. The position will lead the sourcing execution, by applying key procurement activities for the category.
The position will report to the Head of Indirect Procurement.
It is an exciting time of change and opportunity within the procurement function at McCain. The MRO buyer will have an ability to realize significant wins for the business where significant impact can be made through standardization and automation. The MRO buyer will help to shape the function and help to establish best practices locally with a big focus on compliance.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
  • Execution of operational buying and were applicable buying strategies for the MRO Stock and Non-Stock Materials Category.
  • Ensuring company purchases in the spend pool complies with internal company controls and requirements. This will include monitoring supplier performance (OTIFQ - On-time-in-Full-to Specification) versus expectations/service level agreements.
  • Implementation of Catalogues and Automate repetitive requirements.
  • Serving as a team member in sourcing activities to include vendor selections, negotiations, catalogue and category management.
  • Establishing and maintaining day-to-day working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Recommending and executing the best practices for the business in developed and new markets.
  • Influencing internal clients to align with the regional and global buying strategy.
  • Participating in external forums and associations.
  • Ensuring compliance with proper procedures, policies, systems and controls.
  • Operations and business results.
  • Leading and contributing to global/regional projects.

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Buying, Sourcing, Purchasing or Procurement related degree and experience will be an advantage.
  • Industry experience has ideally been gained in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, which is desired, but not essential.
  • Competency in analyzing buying trends, attention to detail - ensuring accuracy in every step and problem solving.
  • Has a proven track record of successfully influencing change within a business.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to realize cost savings for the business.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to handle tight deadlines and many competing priorities.
  • Strong quality assurance orientation.
  • Strong administrative capabilities with proficiency in SAP, COUPA and Excel.
  • He/she has good influence, collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal) and is able to build strong working relationships.
  • The ideal candidate will have presence, intellect, energy, drive, people skills and business acumen to succeed in a fast paced, high-performance environment and will be self-motivated.
