Telecom Engineer

General Purpose of the Job

The Telecommunications Engineer position establishes communications systems by deploying, operating, and administering our voice telecommunications equipment and cloud platforms. Requires that you not only be highly skilled with a hard-to-find combination of skills, knowledge and experience, but that you have a high degree of personal motivation, enjoy working independently and the capability to support a wide array of communication systems across a large geographic area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Programs, analyzes and resolves problems related to telecommunications systems' software and hardware.
  • Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
  • Plans, designs, engineers and constructs telecommunications systems
  • Maintains outages by troubleshooting, repairing, testing back-up/failover procedures, and updating documentation.
  • Remains current on job-specific and department topics through training courses, workshops, seminars, professional organizations, professional publications, conferences, professional association shows, etc. to apply appropriate policies and technologies to assigned systems.
  • Directs projects assigned by management by planning plans of action, resource allocation and monitoring progress.
  • Researches and evaluates the capabilities and costs of new and available technologies, and makes recommendations to the Telecommunications Architect and Telecommunications Manager regarding improvements, purchases and cost-saving measures.
  • Interacts with teammate, vendors, and other members of the village to obtain and disseminate information, advise on projects, resolve conflicts, set priorities, coordinate activities, complete projects within time and budget constraints, and provide assistance.
  • Provides ongoing technical and operational assistance for all collaboration platforms serviced by the Telecom Team, schedules and oversees contracted maintenance and repair services, and provides consultation and assistance as assigned to system developers to ensure compatibility of systems around the village.
  • Coordinates moves, adds and changes of telecommunication equipment per requests from ticketing system.
  • Creates manuals and or reference guides for use by system users to provide information needed to operate assigned telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Trains end users in the use of various kinds of telecommunication equipment in classroom and on-site settings.
  • Maintains the ticketing queue to keep Service Level Agreements within acceptable levels

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Telecom Analyst or similar position
  • Ability to serve as a project lead
  • Excellent organizational skills in a rapidly-changing environment
  • BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Working knowledge of Webex Calling (UCaaS) and Video conferencing platforms
  • Cisco Call Manager (CUCM), Cisco Contact Center (PCCE/UCCE)
  • Experience with MS Teams, M365, and MTR (MS Teams Room) configurations
  • Exposure to NICE CX One (CCaaS) and IEX/WFM platforms a plus
  • Cisco Collaboration CCNA or CCNP preferred

Salary/ Wage Range

$75,200.00 - $110,400.00 / year
