What you’ll do:- Participates in design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems.
- Follows policies, practices, procedures, standards, and company rules related to assignments. comply with regulations and procedures required by external agencies.
- Prepares cost estimates for engineering assignments using established guidelines.
- Perform documentation of project work using established guidelines.
- Performs network assignments.
- Analyze network performance, troubleshoot when necessary, and provide resolutions to technical problems.
- Follow standard workflow for engineering projects.
- Apply economic analysis techniques and adhere to budgeting and approval processes in project development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.
- Learn AEP's organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of one's organizational unit.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study, AND (2) two years of relevant work experience.
- OR associate’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study, AND (4) four years of relevant work experience.
- HS diploma/GED, AND (6) six years of relevant work experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles.
- Understanding of telecom systems and interrelationships between components.
- Competency in analytical techniques to handle assignments of moderate complexity.
- Prioritize safety and consistently adhere to all safety protocols and practices, contributing to a strong safety culture.
- Ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.
- Strong collaboration and cross-training capabilities within and across teams.
- Effective communication and initiative in presenting new ideas.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study, AND (5) five years of relevant work experience.
- OR associate’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study, AND (7) seven years of relevant work experience.
- OR HS diploma/GED, AND (9) nine years of relevant work experience.
- Advanced understanding of telecom technologies, systems integration, and network architecture.
- Proficiency in analyzing complex problems and developing strategic solutions.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and performance metric development.
- Prioritize safety and consistently adhere to all safety protocols and practices, contributing to a strong safety culture.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Ability to lead process improvements and mentor junior staff.
- Professional communication and presentation skills.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
