Advancing the World’s Technology Together

Our technology solutions power the tools you use every day--including smartphones, electric vehicles, hyperscale data centers, IoT devices, and so much more. Here, you’ll have an opportunity to be part of a global leader whose innovative designs are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and powering the future.

We believe innovation and growth are driven by an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce. We’re dedicated to empowering people to be their true selves. Together, we’re building a better tomorrow for our employees, customers, partners, and communities.

At the Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED), our core development focus is the host interface firmware layer that sits in the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung’s breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers, to big data processing, to software defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructures.

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, experienced engineer to architect and lead functional test coverage and test methodologies for NVMe SSDs.

Location: Working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 5 days a week.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and lead the development of end-to-end test strategies for NVMe storage devices, ensuring robust validation across functional, stress, performance, and scalability testing. Design testing frameworks that support embedded architectures and optimize test coverage.
  • Lead the design and development of advanced test automation frameworks, leveraging scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) to enable scalable, efficient, and repeatable testing. Drive automation efforts to enhance testing speed and quality across the development lifecycle.
  • Define the long-term vision for test development, aligning with product and engineering roadmaps. Inspire and mentor a team of engineers, cultivating a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Work closely with firmware, hardware, and software teams to define test requirements and architecture, influencing product development from a test perspective. Mentor and guide junior engineers, interns, fostering a culture of excellence in test design and execution.
  • Lead efforts in analyzing complex test results, identifying performance bottlenecks, and debugging firmware issues. Drive resolution by collaborating with the development team, ensuring rapid identification of root causes and effective problem-solving.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement cutting-edge testing methodologies, tools, and technologies to stay ahead of industry trends and improve the overall quality and reliability of NVMe storage solutions.
  • Define standards for test documentation, ensuring clear, detailed, and actionable test reports for internal and external stakeholders. Provide technical leadership in reporting results, and advocate for quality standards across the organization.
  • Develop test roadmaps aligned with product goals, ensuring comprehensive testing coverage while identifying potential risks early. Proactively design mitigations to address critical issues before product launch.
  • Establish standards for test team and reporting. Deliver clear, actionable insights to stakeholders and advocate for quality metrics that drive accountability and transparency.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or similar; experience with test automation frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
