JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technology Training Specialist plays a pivotal role in driving technology adoption and workforce enablement across the firm. Reporting to the Training Manager, this position designs and delivers innovative learning experiences that empower attorneys and business professionals to maximize productivity, enhance client service, and confidently leverage emerging technologies.
This role is responsible for developing and executing technology training programs across a broad range of firm applications, systems, and AI-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot. The Technology Training Specialist partners with stakeholders throughout the firm to identify learning needs, develop impactful training solutions, and support successful technology implementations.
In addition to leading instructor-led and virtual training programs, the role creates engaging digital learning content, develops training resources, authors technical communications, and serves as a trusted advisor on technology best practices. This position contributes to key IS and firmwide initiatives, helping ensure team members have the knowledge and confidence needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Comprehensively train and orientate new and existing Alston & Bird employees on firm policies, procedures, and operation and layout of computer and telephone systems.
Provide on-going training to attorneys and staff on computer systems specific to their job requirements and needs.
Display expertise in web conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom) and provide new hire, rollout, and on-going training as needed using them.
Write and update technical instructions (quick reference guides, user manuals, announcements, etc.) using the approved A&B training formats.
Develop and deliver eLearning videos using authoring tools.
Serve as one of the primary administrators for the LMS system.
Assist in all stages of new software rollouts – needs assessment, course design, documentation/video development, schedule coordination, training delivery, and tracking.
Assist with testing new software and systems.
Develop surveys and provide survey reports using the available survey tool(s).
Deliver instruction in a classroom setting with one to several employees.
Travel to other offices and train users as needed.
Time permitting, and at discretion of the Training Manager, assist in other projects within the firm, which can be non-technical in nature.
Serve as liaison between IS and other administrative departments throughout the firm to assess training needs and develop training courses and other deliverables.
Assist management personnel in the creation of learning tracks for their direct reports.
SKILLS NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
Constant learning and the ability to continually train users on current and new technologies.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to quickly create, re-write, and update user instructions in the approved formats.
Ability to quickly produce high quality eLearning video content.
Ability to work in an ever-changing environment and to pivot to new deliverables when necessary.
Strong attention to detail is essential as well as a demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
Ability to learn new technologies and re-train users under a deadline.
Be able to operate from established procedures and guidelines under a low level of direction from the Training Manager.
Ability to establish successful working relationships throughout the firm.
Possess a thorough knowledge of the firm, technical and training standards, and practices and guidelines.
Excellent organizational skills for preparing training and prioritizing workload.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft products, legal applications, and an overall strong technical aptitude.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
5+ years of training experience is required, preferably within a law firm environment.
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired during four years of high school.
Associates or bachelor’s degree is not required but preferred.
Has a high level of familiarity and expertise with software used at large law firms.
The salary range for this position in Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington DC is $110,000 - $120,000 and represents the Firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at this time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and locations.
