Technology Systems Specialist -Electrical Safety & Security

Role description:

Arcadis Digital X is a global Technology Consulting Practice Group focused on providing professional advisory, design and engineering services to ICT/IMIT/telecommunications, PLC/SCADA/HMI, physical & cyber security, audio-visual technologies clients that rely on enabling technology for its success.

Our Team is a group of subject matter experts that has worked on thousands of technology projects and use that experience to design solutions that people love to use. We primarily service a demand in sectors of the building industry such as industrial manufacturing, technology (eg. hyperscale data centers) healthcare, education and government, where technology is critical to their success in delivering their core services. As such, these market sectors require a high level of expertise and experience in technology consulting and engineering that is not found in the current traditional engineering community.

We are seeking a talented Technology Systems Specialist – Electrical Safety and Security to join our global technology design team in Eastern United States to support our projects. This position will report to the practice area Associate as well as the Practice Group Director. 

Role accountabilities:

• Systems design of extra low voltage systems including Security (video, access control, intrusion), ICT, Audio-Visual and Structured Cabling Solutions.
• Lead Security and related systems design for mission critical projects (i.e. hyper scale data centers) from planning through detailed design and construction support.
• Develop design criteria, narratives, layouts, and construction documentation for security systems and devices including requirements for telecommunications rooms, equipment rooms, backbone distribution, horizontal cabling, pathways, and cable tray systems.
• Working knowledge of applicable code, standards and guidelines, including BICSI, ANSI/TIA, ASIS and related industry standards.
• Develop written system specifications and functional system narratives in Master Format specification templates, specifically Division 27, and Division 28 (experience with Division 25 is also desirable);
• Work with our Revit/CAD teams to develop technical design and construction drawings, including floor plans, elevations, system riser diagrams and installation details describing design intent and device placement;
• Work with our design tools, including Navisworks to resolve modelling conflicts and collisions;
• Review design documents (drawings and specifications) and provide direction on development of the engineering drawings.
• Evaluate the technology equipment available in the industry for suitability of use in design solutions;
• Liaise with design team including electrical, mechanical and architectural consultants, both internal and external to Arcadis to support integrated project approach;
• Attend and lead and minute design meetings and workshops with clients and design team;
• Develop budgetary implementation costs;
• Provide construction stage administration as required, including site reviews, site review reports;
• Business development and maintenance of client relations including proposal support, technical approach development, and project scoping when needed
• Coordinate with and training junior team members.

Qualifications & Experience:

What we are looking for:

• Must be a Citizen of USA 
• Minimum 5 years of technology ELV systems design and installation experience with large scale industrial or commercial projects with complex technology needs, preferably in the data center sector.
• Experience supporting mission critical (healthcare, government & corrections) and hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center programs.
• Background in mission critical facility design beyond device type and placement including coordination with AV, ICT or related low voltage systems.
• Experience with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary model-based design workflows.
• PSP, CISSP, CPP, RCDD Certifications an asset.
• Engineering/ Architectural / Construction Industry experience
• Must be highly capable with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel
• Comfortable working with remote task assignment software programs
• Familiarity and comfort in working in agile sprint-based team assignment and organizational structure
• Ability to support projects across geographic locations and time zones.
• Experience working with design markup programs such as Visio, Bluebeam, CAD (AutoCAD and/or Revit)
• Ability to work with remote enabling technologies such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Zoom etc.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills in working with internal and external stakeholders and clients as well as your remote team members
• Energetic, diplomatic, flexible, problem-solving mindset
• Strong organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to take initiative

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
