Job Summary

Leads team of cross functional professionals for a specific period to time to deliver high quality technology solutions to the business. Lead collaboration to create and agree upon plan to deliver a solution to the business, and then baseline the project for ongoing tracking either by scope or functionality. Team will follow the chosen project management methodology and standard work to deliver the solution, continually keeping the project team and stakeholders informed of progress, challenges, and plans to overcome those challenges.  The scope of job can range from a program, set of projects or product depending upon assignment.  The resources may be managing the entire project or a specific part of the part of the project.  Financial management may be of department, program, or projects and include applicable Procurement Management activities.

Job Description

Provides project and program leadership within the Infrastructure, Operations and Support (IOS) organization, which is responsible for maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of AEP’s technology systems and network.

Responsibilities, qualifications & capabilities:   

  • Leads the analysis, planning, and execution of enterprise-level projects across the organization. 

  • Manages a diverse portfolio of project types, including strategic initiatives, proof-of-concept efforts, technology upgrades and lifecycle activities, and remediation of findings and vulnerabilities. 

  • Proactively identifies, assesses, and communicates risks and obstacles before they affect project outcomes. 

  • Demonstrates agile approach, embraces change, and drives continuous improvement in team processes and day-to-day operations. 

Additional Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success leading complex projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels, including the timely escalation of risks and issues. 

  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate complex information and data into actionable plans and drive execution to completion. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, supported by a strong executive presence. 

  • Ability to develop clear, audience-appropriate communications and presentations, and to deliver messages to leadership with confidence and clarity. 

  • Strong project financial management skills, including budget, estimate, and actuals analysis; status reporting; risk and issue identification and resolution; purchase requests; work orders; invoice processing; and the development and maintenance of project estimates. 

  • Two to three years of experience leading complex, multi-million-dollar technology initiatives. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining quality standards and meeting delivery commitments. 

  • Program-level experience is strongly preferred.

  • 7 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Skills Required
