As a Technology Product Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in providing expertise and ongoing technical support to our valued customers. Your primary focus will be on Caterpillar Mining software and hardware technologies, including Fleet, Terrain, Site Aware, and DSS. You will collaborate with the site-based team and customers to ensure the efficient and effective use of these technologies at their mining operations.
The total annual compensation for this position is $95,000-$125,000.

Job Description:

  • Customer Optimization, Technical Support, and Continuous Improvement: You will work closely with customers, advising other technical experts, and making key decisions to optimize the use of CAT technologies at their mining sites. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring that customers get the full value from our cutting-edge technologies.
  • Supporting Software Updates and Hardware Upgrades: You will assist in the implementation of software updates and hardware upgrades at customer operations to ensure they are always equipped with the latest advancements.
  • Calibration and Commissioning: You will support the calibration and commissioning of new and existing equipment, ensuring it performs at its best.
  • Expert Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identifying and troubleshooting product issues will be one of your main responsibilities. You'll take appropriate actions to repair and resolve issues in a cost-effective manner to minimize customer downtime.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement: You will create new and review existing documentation, providing expert feedback on internal and customer-created procedures. Your expertise will contribute to process improvements.
  • Configuration Management: You'll be responsible for the configuration management of Fleet, Terrain, Site Awareness, and DSS systems.
  • Collaborating with Customer Teams: You will support customer operational, mine planning, and maintenance teams, ensuring seamless integration and smooth operations.
  • Product Failure Trends Analysis: Investigating and reporting product failure trends and serviceability issues will be part of your role to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Mentoring and Training: You will provide product and process cross-training to team members, contributing to a knowledgeable and skilled team.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Background: The successful candidate should have a good understanding of best practices for mine equipment dispatching and be familiar with major fleet management systems including MineStar, Wenco, and Modular.
  • Field Experience: A minimum of 2 years of field experience in a technical role is preferred.
  • Mining and Construction Experience: Experience in mining operations or heavy civil construction will be an asset.
  • Mine Planning: Knowledge or experience in mine planning will be beneficial.
  • GPS/GNSS Systems and Networking: Familiarity with GPS/GNSS systems and computer networking is a plus.

Education: A post-secondary education in fields such as Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering is considered an asset.
