Role Purpose:

We are looking for a hands-on Technology PMO Lead to improve how work is planned, prioritised and managed across Technology.

The role will establish a clear view of the Technology portfolio, covering strategic initiatives, projects and material BAU activity. It will bring together business demand, Technology capacity and existing commitments so that delivery choices and trade-offs are understood, priorities are agreed and the impact of new requests is transparent.

Working closely with the CTO, Technology leadership, Finance and investment teams, the PMO Lead will provide clear and realistic information about what can be delivered, when and with what resources. This will enable better decisions, clearer accountability and greater transparency between Technology and the business.

This is an opportunity to build a pragmatic PMO capability in a fast-moving hedge fund environment. The emphasis will be on improving decisions and delivery while supporting the speed and autonomy required by the investment business.

Key Responsibilites:

To at all times adhere to the Consult rules as set out in the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR)

  • Establish and maintain a single, reliable view of Technology projects, priorities and material BAU activity.
  • Work with the CTO and Technology leadership team to develop an integrated roadmap and support prioritisation decisions.
  • Work directly with investment teams to understand their priorities and upcoming demand, while making the impact on Technology capacity and existing commitments clear.
  • Improve visibility of how Technology resources are allocated across BAU, mandatory work and strategic change.
  • Produce concise, decision-focused reporting for Technology leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Track delivery against agreed milestones and ensure that risks, issues and decisions have clear owners.
  • Identify conflicts, dependencies and capacity constraints across teams, assess their impact and escalate them early.
  • Establish proportionate governance and consistent delivery standards across Technology initiatives.
  • Work with Finance and Technology leaders to improve budget, forecast, headcount and external-spend tracking.
  • Ensure that new requests and changes in priority are assessed consistently, with their impact on existing commitments made clear.
  • Support initiative owners with planning and governance, constructively challenging delivery confidence where required.

Key Competencies:

  • Hands-on, organised and willing to work through the detail.
  • Pragmatic and focused on outcomes rather than process.
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Calm under pressure and able to communicate issues clearly.
  • Persistent in following through actions, decisions and commitments.
  • Able to introduce structure and discipline without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

Key Experience and Qualifications:

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Strong experience in a Technology PMO, technology portfolio management or enterprise technology change role within a hedge fund.
  • Experience working directly with investment teams and their supporting technology functions.
  • A good understanding of the pace, autonomy and changing priorities of a hedge fund environment.
  • A track record of improving or establishing portfolio governance, planning and reporting.
  • Good understanding of technology delivery across applications, infrastructure, cyber security and data.
  • Commercial and financial confidence, including experience of budgets, forecasts, resource plans and investment cases.
  • Able to turn fragmented or incomplete information into a clear and accurate management view.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills, including the confidence to challenge senior investment and Technology stakeholders constructively.
  • Excellent written communication and the ability to produce concise executive reporting.
  • Comfortable working across different delivery approaches rather than imposing a single methodology.
