Providing audit, tax and advisory services, we empower clients through strategic insight, curiosity, and genuine partnership. And we empower our people with real opportunity, an inclusive culture and work life balance. A true alternative.

With over 5,000 people in the UK, and a presence in 150 global markets, we're on an ambitious journey, from great to exceptional, and we need the best people to help us achieve our potential. And with that comes the opportunity to help redefine what our industry looks like, and what you want from your career.

Job Description

Grant Thornton’s Technology Consulting team works with a broad range of clients to solve complex business challenges through technology. We support organisations across strategy, system selection, implementation and transformation – helping them unlock value from their technology investments.

We are continuing to grow our team and are looking for an experienced Associate Director to play a key role in delivering client engagements, leading teams and contributing to the development of our technology consulting capability.

You will work with senior stakeholders across a range of industries, leading engagements that span technology strategy, operating model design, system selection (RFI/RFP), and implementation. This is a hands-on role where you will combine technical insight with commercial acumen to deliver impactful outcomes for clients.

A look into the role

As a Technology Consulting Associate Director, you will:

  • Lead client engagements end-to-end, taking responsibility for delivery across a range of project sizes, including leading client meetings, workshops, and presentation of outputs

  • Act as a day-to-day client relationship lead, building trusted relationships and ensuring high quality delivery

  • Lead system strategy and spec & select processes, including requirements gathering, RFI/RFP management and supporting clients through technology selection decisions

  • Oversee and contribute to implementation and transformation programmes, ensuring delivery is practical, hands-on and outcome focused

  • Scope and budget client engagements, securing client buy-in and managing delivery within agreed commercial parameters

  • Interpret and analyse complex information to identify business issues and develop pragmatic technology solutions

  • Take overall responsibility for project financials, including managing budgets, monitoring costs vs. plan, and ensuring timely fee collection

  • Actively contribute to business development, including building external networks, identifying opportunities and supporting cross-selling across the firm

  • Play a key role in marketing initiatives, including originating content and presenting at external events

  • Support the development of team members through coaching, feedback and formal performance management

  • Provide on-the-job training to Managers and Executives, helping build capability across the team

  • Support the leadership team in the day-to-day running of the department, contributing to internal initiatives and continuous improvement

  • Ensure compliance with firm processes, including engagement take-on, documentation and project close-down procedures

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a Technology Consulting Associate Director, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

  • Strong consulting experience within a technology or transformation environment

  • Proven ability to lead client engagements and manage senior stakeholders

  • Experience delivering technology strategy, system selection or implementation work

  • Strong commercial awareness, with experience in scoping, budgeting and managing client engagements

  • Experience leading system selection (RFI/RFP) and implementation programmes

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting to senior stakeholders

  • A proactive, curious mindset with a focus on continuous development

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations

  • Technically astute, with a working appreciation of enterprise architecture across application, data and technology domains

It would be great if you also had some of the following:

  • Broad technology exposure across systems, platforms and operating models (rather than a narrow specialism)

  • Exposure to M&A, IT due diligence or integration programmes

  • A track record of building networks, generating leads and contributing to business development

  • Track record of contributing to business development: proposals, scoping, and converting opportunities

  • Experience in developing and coaching junior team members

  • Relevant professional or technical certifications (e.g. TOGAF, cloud, project delivery)

Beyond the job

Life is more than work. The things you do, and the people you’re with outside of work matter, that’s why we’re happy to look at flexible working options for all our roles, and we’ll always do our best to keep your work and life in balance

The impact you can make here will go far beyond your day job. We’re looking for people who want to contribute, spark fresh ideas and go beyond expectations. People who want to be able to proudly do what’s right, for the firm, our clients, our people and themselves. It’s how it should be.
