Ce qu’il sera attendu de vous:

Ciena est à la recherche d’un(e) technologue en photonique. Cette personne participera à la caractérisation des composants d’optique intégrée sur silicium, au développement des procédés d'assemblage, à la réalisation de prototypes ainsi qu'à la conception et à l'installation de stations de test.

Au sein de l’équipe de photonique intégrée sur silicium, votre rôle consistera à:

  • Réaliser des tests optiques et électriques sur différents types de composantes;
  • Assembler des prototypes opto-mécaniques;
  • Compiler et analyser des données d’assemblage et de tests;
  • Rédiger des rapports de tests et suggérer des pistes de solutions face aux résultats obtenus;
  • Collaborer à l’amélioration de la performance du secteur;
  • Interagir avec les autres membres du groupe (assistants techniques, technologues, ingénieurs, chercheurs, etc) pour le développement des prototypes et des nouveaux produits;
  • Effectuer des recherches et des achats de composants et d’instruments chez les fournisseurs;
  • Gérer les différentes priorités de réalisation tout en respectant les échéanciers fournis;
  • Collaborer dans l’écriture des procédures d’inspection, de tests et d’assemblage;
  • Mettre à jour la documentation technique;
  • Vous impliquer dans l’amélioration des méthodes de travails et d’outils;
  • Contribuer à l’introduction des nouveaux produits en production et à l’amélioration des produits existants;
  • Coordonner un groupe d’assistants techniques et les guider dans la priorisation de leurs tâches quotidiennes;
  • Superviser les inspections d’entrées sur le matériel critique;
  • Coordonner les différentes demandes d’assemblage et d’inspection provenant des autres groupes.

Exigences:

  • Diplôme d’étude CEGEP en technologie physique, ou en technique du génie électrique, mécanique, électronique ou une formation équivalente;
  • Vous avez de 2 à 5 ans d’expérience et connaissez les bases des procédés suivants :
    • Manipulation de composants électroniques et/ou optiques (laser à semiconducteurs, puces de silicium, lentilles, processeurs, etc.);
    • Procédé d’encapsulation de puces ou de composants;
    • Alignement optique et couplage de fibres optiques à des guides d’onde;
    • Manipulation, nettoyage et fusions de fibre optique;
    • Prototypage opto-mécanique;
    • Électronique et mécanique de base;
    • Travail dans un environnement dépoussiéré et contrôlé.
  • Vous démontrez une bonne capacité à résoudre des problèmes techniques et expérimentaux;
  • Vous possédez un bon sens de la collaboration et un bon esprit d’équipe;
  • Avoir un esprit d'initiative, d'innovation et être autonome;
  • Être à l’aise à travailler dans un environnement de recherche et développement;
  • Vous avez une bonne maîtrise du français (écrit et parlé) et une connaissance de l’anglais (pour être en mesure de contacter certains fournisseurs);
  • Être disponible occasionnellement pour voyager.

How You Will Contribute:

Ciena is opening a position for a photonic technologist. The holder of this position will participate in the characterization of silicon photonic components, the development of assembly processes, in the realization of prototypes as well as in the conception and installation of test stations.

Acting in the Silicon Photonics Development Group, your role will be to:

  • Perform optical and electrical tests on different types of components;
  • Assemble opto-mechanical prototypes;
  • Develop, assemble and operate test stations;
  • Compile and analyze assembly and test data;
  • Write test reports and suggest possible solutions based on the results obtained;
  • Collaborate to improve performance;
  • Interact with several members of the group (technical assistants, technicians, engineers, researchers, etc) for the development of prototypes and new products;
  • Research and purchase components and instruments from suppliers;
  • Manage the different implementation priorities while respecting the deadlines provided;
  • Update technical documentation;
  • Collaborate in the writing of inspection, test and assembly procedures;
  • Get involved in improving work methods and tools;
  • Contribute to the introduction of new products in production and the improvement of existing products;
  • Coordinate a group of technical assistants and guide them in prioritizing their daily tasks;
  • Supervise entry inspections on critical equipment;
  • Coordinate the various assembly and inspection requests from other groups.

The Must Haves:

  • CEGEP diploma in physic technology, or in mechanical engineering, electric engineering, electronic engineering or equivalent;
  • 2 to 5 years of experience and know the basics of the following processes:
    • Manipulation of optical components (semiconductor lasers, silicon chips, lenses, etc);
    • Process for encapsulating chips or components;
    • Optical alignment and fiber coupling to optical waveguides;
    • Manipulation, cleaning, splicing of optical fibers;
    • Opto-mechanical prototyping;
    • Basic mechanics and electronics;
    • Work in a dust-free and controlled environment.
  • You have excellent ability to solve technical and experimental problems;
  • You have a good sense of collaboration and a good team spirit;
  • Have a spirit of initiative, innovation and be autonomous;
  • Be comfortable working in a research and development environment;
  • You have a good mastery of French (both written and oral) and a knowledge of English (to be able to contact suppliers);
  • Be available occasionally to travel.

Pay Range: $66,800 - $106,800

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
