The Defense Sector, Decision Advantage Business Area at Leidos is thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for a Technical Writer to join our team. If you have a passion for technical writing and research and a desire to support critical Air Force systems, this is the perfect role for you. We are hiring a Technical Writer to support a large, complex, nationally significant development and integration program. As the prime contractor, Leidos will drive performance optimization in achieving mission outcomes through efficient design, build, fielding and transition-to-operations. Although this role is primarily remote, candidates located in the Warner Robins, GA area are strongly preferred. Occasional travel to the customer site on Warner Robins Air Force Base will be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for writing, editing, proofreading and providing writing support on technical documents such as design packages, requirements matrixes, manuals, procedures, plans and technical specifications for our CDRLs and work products/deliverables. You will be working with a team of multi-disciplined engineers, cyber security engineers, quality engineers, and architects that are performing systems requirements analysis, integration, system testing, and quality assurance to support the successful delivery of the TACMOR network services. In the role you will:
- Edit, review, and revise our project plans and internal documentation for accuracy and clarity
- Participate in peer reviews and document changes as needed
- Research technical reference material, gather technical information, and develop documentation
- Generate training material based on OEM manuals and specifications
- Analyze documentation, peer review data, perform trend analysis, and recommend process improvements
- Review all deliverables and CDRLs for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style
- Perform data analysis on program metrics and generate reports
- Assist the Program Manager with generating internal reports and briefings
- Assist the Program Manager with creating plans and developing timelines to monitor progress
- Responsible for the compilation of technical data packages
Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree of art or science and 4+ years of prior relevant experience, or 2+ years of experience with a Masters degree
- Must be a US Citizen and actively possess a DoD Secret security clearance
- Ability to review and revise written content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency in grammar, punctuation, and style
- Ability to organize, store, and retrieve documents and records in a systematic and efficient manner to support business operations and compliance requirements
- Examine written materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and requirements
- Experience creating detailed instructional guides to support the use and maintenance of applied systems and equipment
- Experience creating clear, concise, and informative professional documentation, such as manuals, guides, and specifications, for various audiences
Preferred Quals:
- Experience with the Tongue and Quill
- Experience with Air Force processes and policies
- Experience with Air Force and DoD acquisition documentation and systems engineering documentation
- Experience with writing Tech Orders and TCTOs
