We’re also proud to be part of Octopus, the £multi billion group that's on a mission to breathe new life into broken industries, through companies like Octopus Energy, Octopus Investments and Octopus Money.

Check out the Seccl website for the latest on our products and our mission to shape the future of investments.

The role

We’re looking for a Technical writer to join our Content and Comms team. This is a newly created role, reporting to the Head of Content & Comms, designed to make complex technology clear, structured and accessible. As Seccl’s Technical Writer, you’ll create and maintain the documentation that enables developers and operational teams to understand and use our platform effectively.

The Content and Comms team sits at the centre of how Seccl shows up in the market. We shape our brand and drive awareness through content, campaigns and events. As we scale, we’re focused on delivering clear, insight-led content that supports commercial outcomes and strengthens our position in the industry - and that includes world-class technical documentation.

Working closely with Product, Engineering, Product Marketing and customer-facing teams, you’ll ensure every guide, API reference, release note and help article is accurate, well-structured and easy to follow. You’ll also help define and maintain the tone and style of our technical documentation, ensuring it reflects the same clarity and straightforward approachability that underpins the Seccl brand.

On a typical day you will be…

  • Creating and maintaining user guides, API documentation, release notes and implementation materials - ensuring everything is technically accurate, structured and easy to follow.

  • Owning the ongoing improvement of our documentation, proactively updating content as the platform evolves.

  • Championing clarity and consistency across all product content, applying and helping to evolve Seccl’s tone, style and documentation standards.

  • Supporting developer experience by making our platform intuitive to understand and straightforward to integrate with.

  • Partnering with Product and Engineering teams to translate complex technical changes into accessible, user-focused documentation.

  • Collaborating with Product Marketing to align release communications and user-facing content, ensuring technical accuracy and messaging consistency.

  • Managing documentation systems and version control, keeping content well organised, searchable and up to date.

This role’s for you if...

  • You’re an exceptional writer who can simplify complex technical concepts without losing accuracy or nuance.

  • You’ve created and maintained documentation for technical or SaaS products - ideally in fintech or developer-focused environments.

  • You understand APIs, developer tooling and technical specifications, and can confidently translate them into clear, usable guidance.

  • You have a sharp eye for detail and care deeply about clarity, consistency and quality.

  • You’re comfortable using documentation platforms, version control systems or static site generators.

  • You thrive working cross-functionally with engineers, product managers and marketers, and know how to ask the right questions to get the detail you need.

  • You’re curious, methodical and precise - combining technical understanding with a genuine passion for clear communication.

  • You’re motivated by making technology more accessible and want to help shape how clients and partners experience Seccl’s platform.

This role isn’t for you if...

  • You rely on a lot of top-down direction. Here, you’ll have a lot of freedom and ownership of your role, and you’ll be expected to shape your own progression

  • You’re not comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Our speed and scalability are what set us apart; you need to be able to act quickly and think on your feet

  • You struggle to follow through on ideas. We value people who do what they say they will. If you care about something, you have the freedom here to make it happen

  • You don’t like change. You’ll get on great here if you relish the ambiguity of rapid growth and are willing to embrace uncertainty

What’s in it for you…

We offer a generous mix of benefits for the things that really matter to our people, including:

💰 A salary between £45,000 and £60,000 dependant on experience + reviewed annually

Interview process

Interviewing is a two-way thing, and we want you to have the time and opportunity to get to know us, as much as we are getting to know you. Our interviews are conversational, so come with questions and be curious. In general, you can expect the interview process to look a bit like this, (following an initial chat with one of our Talent team):

  • First stage – we will share a technical writing task for you to work on at an agreed time, if that goes well, we will progress to a 45 mins competencies-based interview with the hiring manager and Product, marketing and insight lead

  • Second stage – one-hour interview with key stakeholders from the wider business

  • Final stage – 45 mins bar-raiser culture-based interview

⏳ We’ll only close this role once we have enough applications for the next stage. Please submit your application as soon as possible to make sure you don’t miss out and you should expect to hear back from us within one to two weeks of applying.

🌈 Our aim is to build a diverse and inclusive company of awesome people, with unique skills, passions and experiences. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, or veteran, neurodiversity or disability status.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. We’d love to hear from you!

What We Do

Seccl is the Octopus-owned embedded investment platform that’s helping more people to invest – and invest well.

Our sector is being held back by old tech, dismal processes and misaligned interests. Together they create pointless complexity for financial planning and investment professionals, and provide outdated, overpriced experiences for customers.

We started afresh, with a low-cost, hyper-efficient and (genuinely) API-first technology infrastructure, which supports firms at the forefront of our changing industry.

Working around a principle of collaborative innovation, our technology and operations power the investment platforms of some of the UK’s most forward-thinking financial planning and wealth management firms, including P1 and Radiant.

They also help ambitious, fast-growth technology businesses – such as GoHenry, Penfold and Crowdcube – to launch and maintain their investment propositions more quickly and affordably than ever before.

A regulated custodian and ISA/SIPP provider, we have the disruptive mindset and ambitious mission to shake things up, along with the commitment and substance to not screw them up.

We’re proud to be part of Octopus, the £12.5 billion group that's on a mission to breathe new life into broken industries, through companies like Octopus Energy, Octopus Investments and Octopus Ventures.
