ASR International is seeking an experienced Technical Writer / Editor to support the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE) enterprise infrastructure and Information Technology support mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, editing, reviewing, and maintaining technical and operational documentation supporting Configuration Management, Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM), enterprise networks, communications systems, and related operational processes.
The Technical Writer will work closely with Government stakeholders, engineers, Configuration Managers, asset managers, and technical subject matter experts to create high-quality documentation that is accurate, complete, compliant, and easy to understand. This position plays a key role in supporting operational readiness by ensuring critical technical information is properly documented, maintained, and communicated across the organization.

The Technical Writer will work closely with Government stakeholders, engineers, Configuration Managers, asset managers, and technical subject matter experts to create high-quality documentation that is accurate, complete, compliant, and easy to understand. This position plays a key role in supporting operational readiness by ensuring critical technical information is properly documented, maintained, and communicated across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, format, and maintain technical documents, reports, manuals, briefings, presentations, SOPs, and other project deliverables.
- Review technical documentation for completeness, accuracy, consistency, grammar, formatting, and compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, system administrators, network personnel, Configuration Managers, and Government stakeholders to gather information and document technical processes and procedures.
- Create and maintain operational documentation including startup and shutdown procedures, backup procedures, system documentation, workflow diagrams, equipment inventories, software inventories, and change management documentation.
- Develop and update network diagrams, rack elevations, technical reference materials, and supporting system documentation.
- Participate in meetings, briefings, workshops, Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), and requirement review sessions; prepare and distribute meeting minutes and action item summaries.
- Review industry, vendor, and open-source documentation to validate technical content and ensure document accuracy.
- Develop document templates, style guides, and standardized formats to improve documentation quality and consistency.
- Maintain document repositories and support version control and archival processes.
- Coordinate document reviews and approval workflows with Government and contractor personnel.
- Prepare monthly status reports and other contract deliverables as required.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance documentation quality, accessibility, and usability.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of professional technical writing, editing, or documentation experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) organization or program.
- Active Secret security clearance required. Must be a US citizen.
- Experience creating, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and user guides.
- Strong understanding of document formatting, grammar, spelling, editing, and quality assurance practices.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather and communicate information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple documents, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience supporting Joint, Air Force, Combatant Command, or other DoD organizations.
- Experience documenting enterprise IT, network, telecommunications, SATCOM, cybersecurity, or infrastructure environments.
- Experience creating network diagrams, rack elevations, technical illustrations, or process flow diagrams.
- Experience supporting Configuration Management, IT Asset Management, or IT Service Management programs.
- Experience developing executive briefings, technical presentations, and governance documentation.
- Familiarity with document management systems, SharePoint, and collaborative workflow tools.
- Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Office Expert, or related professional certifications.
