Position Summary

OMG Federal is seeking a Technical Writer with experience within process improvement to develop, manage, and improve documentation and processes for enterprise systems and operations in support of federal missions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical writing, configuration management, and process improvement experience who can translate complex information into clear, usable documentation for diverse stakeholders. This will support the NAVSEA Naval Shipyard Support Office (NSSO). Incumbents are highly urged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and publish technical documentation, manuals, and process materials
  • Gather and interpret technical information and coordinate formatting and layout for publication
  • Provide technical writing support, including configuration control and version management for documentation
  • Create and maintain process manuals and related documentation for enterprise systems and operations
  • Develop agreements, memoranda, and formal documentation to support organizational processes and initiatives
  • Coordinate internal and external document reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and stakeholder alignment
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation across multiple functional areas
  • Prepare meeting minutes, action items, summaries, and presentation materials
  • Support development of technical reports, including metrics documentation and data analysis summaries
  • Assist with presentations, collaboration tools, and documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Teams)
  • Maintain and update business process documentation, including “As-Is” state process maps
  • Ensure documentation consistency, quality, and adherence to established standards

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related field is required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with configuration management processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and documentation management tools
  • An active Secret Security Clearance is required
  • Four to seven (4–7) years of experience in process improvement, including data gathering, analysis, change management, process implementation and evaluation activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Four to seven (4–7) years of experience in technical writing or documentation management
  • Eight plus (8+) years of experience developing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Experience supporting complex technical or government-related programs
  • Familiarity with structured documentation standards and process-driven environments
  • Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or similar certification

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time on location in a federal office environment
  • Periodic travel to client meetings, planning sessions, or program events as needed
  • Standard business hours with flexibility based on project requirements
