The Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) is the security and law enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of State (the Department). DS is a world leader in international investigations, threat analysis, cyber security, counterterrorism, security technology, and protection of people, property, and information. Its primary mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for the conduct of U.S. foreign policy. The Office of Security Technology (ST) supports the DS mission through the application and use of appropriate technical security countermeasures. The Countermeasures Program (CMP) and Security Technology Operations (STO) divisions are operational components within ST. CMP is primarily responsible for worldwide technical countermeasures policy for the Department. Countermeasures policies enforce the protection of sensitive and classified information. CMP also manages the overseas technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) program.
Job Duties:
- Researches and gathers information from various sources, including rough drafts, manufacturer’s manuals, and interviews with subject matter experts, to complete content development assignments effective at the enterprise level.
- Develops written, visual, and multimedia products to support evaluation reporting, deployment guidance, and operation of technical systems and products.
- Documentation and multimedia creation, and integration into enterprise sharing and delivery platforms.
- Reviews publications and proposes refinements to content or format, tracks the development of technical material from draft to final approval and publication, and maintains document version control, revision, and approval records.
- Recommends and implements document standards, quality controls, and content requirements
- Responsible for creating and modifying presentations and data visualizations.
- Responsible for working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition, to support documentation and reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a technical writer, content developer, or instructional design.
- Mastery of the English language, including grammar, structure, punctuation, and spelling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Direct experience creating content for Government or a Government contractor.
- Knowledge of requirements for safeguarding classified information.
- Demonstrated experience working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
