Job Description for Technical Writer II
The Technical Writer II is a technical writer and technical report designer responsible for turning complex cybersecurity, threat intelligence, and product-related information into clear, accurate, and visually polished content for customers, security practitioners, analysts, partners, and executives. This role supports both Threat Research and Technical Marketing by creating high-quality written and visual publications such as research reports, technical articles, solution briefs, advisories, dashboards, presentations, and web content.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical writing, editing, and report design skills with expertise in information design, digital publishing, and branded content development. This person will create polished publications that communicate security insights, technical concepts, and customer value in formats suitable for both technical and executive audiences.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Writing and Report Design
- Create and publish high-quality content across Threat Research and Technical Marketing, including:
- Threat intelligence reports
- Threat briefs and security advisories
- Technical articles and blogs
- Executive summaries
- Customer solution guides
- Whitepapers and technical briefs
- Presentations, webinars, and web content
- Translate complex cybersecurity and product topics into clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Partner with threat researchers, engineers, product teams, and technical marketing teams to transform technical inputs into polished publications.
Technical Report Design and Digital Publishing
- Design and produce polished, branded PDF reports, web articles, dashboards, and presentation assets.
- Ensure content is optimized for readability, accessibility, consistency, and digital publishing standards.
- Maintain strong editorial, formatting, and branding consistency across all deliverables.
Visual Storytelling and Content Design
- Create and refine visual assets such as dashboards, infographics, charts, process diagrams, attack flow illustrations, security architecture visuals, and summary graphics.
- Present complex technical and threat information in ways that are visually engaging and easy to understand.
- Work with subject matter experts and designers to ensure technical accuracy and visual quality.
Collaboration and Content Strategy
- Partner with Threat Intelligence, Engineering, Product Management, Technical Marketing, and other stakeholders to develop impactful publications and assets.
- Participate in technical and editorial reviews to ensure quality and completeness.
- Help define templates, style guides, and content standards across research and marketing publications.
- Recommend improved formats and visual approaches to increase content effectiveness and customer engagement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Excellent technical writing, editing, proofreading, and technical report design skills.
· Experience writing cybersecurity, threat intelligence, technical marketing, or technology-related content.
· Experience creating polished, branded PDF reports, technical documents, presentations, and web content.
· Strong knowledge of information design, visual storytelling, and digital publishing.
· Experience creating charts, dashboards, infographics, diagrams, and executive-ready visuals.
· Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Figma, Canva, Lucidchart, Microsoft Visio, and Google Docs.
· Familiarity with Markdown, HTML, CSS, WordPress, Drupal, or similar publishing platforms.
· Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Journalism, English, Information Design, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
· 3+ years of experience in technical writing, technical report design, cybersecurity documentation, technical marketing, or content development.
· Experience creating visually rich technical documentation, reports, presentations, and digital content.
· Portfolio demonstrating technical writing, report creation, and visual content design is highly desirable.
