Technical Writer / Data Analyst

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

ZeroFox seeks a Technical Writer with Data Analyst skills to join our team and help take our client-focused services to new heights through producing clear, effective written deliverables. The ideal candidate will have proven success in a highly technical field, such as software development, computer science, or engineering. A commitment ability to evaluate and analyze complex information and a natural desire to help people understand it. As a blended role, you'll be responsible for analytics and quality assurance across the organization, working with teams and leadership to define and shape both self-service analytics and data-driven decisions. You’ll also help drive a robust quality assurance and data accuracy practice, as well as grow the relationship between the Analytics team and the rest of the organization, empowering team members to reach out and request analytical support as they need it.

Role and responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards
• Gain deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content
• Develop and maintain detailed database of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
• Outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
• Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage
• Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards and allow for easy data migration
• Work with leads across the company to define analytics requirements
• Produce graphics for inclusion in finished intelligence products
• Refines large data sets to assist in the team’s analysis cycle
• Become proficient, and eventually SME, on multiple ZeroFOX proprietary tools
• Expected to be the analyst team subject matter expert (SME) on gathering, processing, and visualizing large data sets
• Must have expertise in tools commonly used to gather and manipulate data sets to render products of intelligence value based on defined information requirements
• Must be capable of creating intelligence products in a variety of graphical representations
• Must be comfortable working in a small team environment and with flexibility to engage in multiple processes

Required qualifications and skills

• Minimum 3 years conducting research and analysis that includes gathering/assessment of large data sets
• Ability to utilize tools commonly used for data analysis and visualization
• Tool categories: Scripting (to construct queries), visualization, MS/Google Suites
• Interest in developing your data storytelling abilities, as well as the ability to articulate technical information to a non-technical audience
• Self starting mindset with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and identify opportunities with limited oversight
• High proficiency in SQL and prior experience in tools such as: Postgres, BigQuery, and Excel. 
• Experience in statistics (e.g. hypothesis testing, regressions, experimentation logic and biases, data normalization techniques)
• Experience developing and documenting data models
• eam player with excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Analytics experience, typically obtained in 2+ years
• Background and foundational knowledge in databases and ETL process
• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
• Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
• Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Desired qualifications and skills

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or relevant technical field
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Data or Computer Science related fields
• Previous experience in software development
• Professional certification (ex: Society for Technical Communication)
• Experience in using XML tools to create documentation
• Experience working on full-time data analysis teams, typically obtained in 3+yrs
• Experience with designing self service analyticsExperience in CTI, including a basic understanding of indicators of compromise (IOC)
• Experience working with US government or adjacent organizations
• High degree of comfort operating on a small team Certifications in common scripting languages
• Training in the use of common visualization tools (PowerBI, Google Sheets, etc)

Other Information

• This position will report to the Lead, Principal Analyst
• This position may entail up to 10 % travel
• This role will be based out of our office in Savannah, GA (hybrid)
• This role requires occasional work on nights and weekends as needed.
