Everforth ECS is seeking a Technical Writer / Analyst to work in our Stafford, VA office.
The ECS Team provides focused agile software development and maintenance for a mission-critical application for the government. Today, the application is a client server application developed using Microsoft .NET that supports a database repository of DNA profiles from individuals, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons. The software allows local, state, and national laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically, thereby linking serial crimes to each other and identifying suspects by matching DNA profiles from crime scenes to individuals’ profiles. Additionally, the software is used to assist with the identification of unidentified human remains, missing persons and disaster victims.
ECS is seeking a Technical Writer / Analyst to support the program by developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation essential for enterprise application lifecycle activities. The selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all documentation, including user guides, system design artifacts, and SOPs, are accurate, consistent, and adhere to government standards. This position is integral to the program's success, providing clear and precise documentation that facilitates effective communication and operational efficiency within the broader enterprise IT framework.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain user guides, configuration documents, and system design artifacts.
- Create and update test plans, SOPs, release notes, and deployment packages.
- Apply document standards and version control to ensure consistency and traceability.
- Coordinate with engineers, testers, and stakeholders to capture accurate technical content.
- Support timely delivery of required documentation in alignment with program schedules.
- Ensure all documentation meets government standards and audit requirements.
- Implement configuration management practices to maintain document integrity.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and standards.
- Clearance: Active Secret clearance required
- Bachelor's degree in Writing, Editing, or something relatable
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing and documentation development
- Extensive experience creating SOPs, user guides, and end user facing documentation for federal agencies
- Proven expertise in developing technical documentation compliant with government standards
