We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Writer to join our team in the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, manuals, procedures, and other materials related to defense-related systems, projects, and operations.
- Create and update technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, user manuals, and other materials in accordance with DoD standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of technical documentation.
- Review and edit documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness, and to ensure compliance with DoD policies and standards.
- Develop and maintain a repository of technical documents and related materials.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on technical writing requirements and deliverables.
- Ensure that technical documents are properly formatted, organized, and version controlled.
- Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Requirements
- Strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating technical documents and user manuals.
- Knowledge of DoD standards and guidelines for technical writing and documentation.
- Familiarity with defense-related systems, projects, and operations.
- Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Cybersecurity Policies/Practices preferred.
- Experience with Confluence for Document Management
- Experience working with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy of technical documentation.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
