Job Summary
The Technical Support Specialist II supports the Major Projects – Transmission and Generation group in the planning and execution of large, capital-intensive projects. This role provides technical and operational IT support to ensure project teams have reliable, secure, and compliant technology solutions across office and field environments.
The Technical Support Specialist II is responsible for managing end-user hardware, credentials, and network resources; establishing and maintaining project site IT infrastructure; and delivering data visibility through dashboards and reporting tools, while complying with NIPSCO IT standards, governance, and security requirements.
Essential Functions
Lead the execution and planning of departmental IT infrastructure, including network storage, shared drives, credentials, and permissions management
Manage project site IT infrastructure, including internet connectivity, local networks, printers, servers, and related hardware to support construction and project execution activities
Provision, configure, deploy, and support end-user hardware such as laptops, mobile phones, monitors, keyboards, docking stations, and related accessories
Order, track, and manage inventory of hardware and project IT infrastructure in coordination with procurement and IT supply partners
Establish and maintain secure connectivity between project sites and corporate systems in alignment with IT security and network standards
Ensure compliance with NIPSCO IT standards, cybersecurity practices, data retention policies, and applicable regulatory and corporate requirements
Support project teams with access to collaboration tools, document repositories, and shared resources
Support the development of technical documentation, standards, and procedures related to IT infrastructure and project site support
Provide technical guidance and support to project team members and stakeholders, translating technical concepts for nontechnical audiences
Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, vendors, and project leadership to resolve issues, manage risks, and improve reliability of technology solutions
Manage and maintain electronic drawings systems
Required Qualifications
2+ years of IT project support or IT project related experience.
5+ years of overall IT, network, infrastructure, and end-user support experience.
Hands-on experience with hardware provisioning, device management, and basic network troubleshooting.
Basic understanding of IT security technologies, controls, and principles.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to travel to project sites up to 25% of the time.
Demonstrated sense of urgency and ability to drive execution in fast paced project environments.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong partnerships with peers, IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
Working knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem, including Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
Experience managing file storage, network drives, permissions, and access controls.
Working knowledge of a broad range of PC‑based and web-based applications.

Salary Range*:
$82,200.00 - $123,200.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
