This is a Hybrid or Remote position. If you are local to Peoria, IL area then this job requires you to work in the Peoria, IL office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with the option to work from home Monday and Friday.

As Technical Strategist, my objective is:
To lead technical strategy and execution across client accounts while supporting the development and refinement of Simantel’s internal technology capabilities. This role supports marketing performance by connecting content, platforms, and systems from CMS and CRM to automation and analytics while serving as a champion of efficient internal tools, automations, and information management across the agency.
The outcomes I need to produce for clients are:
  • Support implementation and ongoing refinement of clients’ marketing technology ecosystems, including CMS, CRM, CDP, Analytics monitoring tools, and marketing automation tools
  • Provide clear technical requirements for tagging, analytics, and system integrations that enable measurement and personalization
  • Advise on technical feasibility and system design during campaign planning and strategic roadmap development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing execution with data strategy and system architecture
  • Troubleshoot and guide resolution of technical marketing issues across digital experiences
  • Serve as an expert who can create clarity about a client’s governance and policies of tools in the marketing technology ecosystem

The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are:
  • Design and maintain internal tools and workflows that improve delivery, measurement, and productivity
  • Build and refine custom GPTs and AI-based automations to reduce manual tasks and increase consistency
  • Help maintain and establish key deliverables and AI assistants to drive standards for auditing of a variety of technical and digital tasks 
  • Act as a technical liaison with IT and the Data Protection Officer (DPO) to support information systems management and compliance
  • Advocate for and document best practices around marketing technology implementation, governance, and change management
  • Develop and implement SEO strategies (on-page, technical, and off-page) that align with client business goals and integrate with broader digital marketing campaigns, leveraging AI-driven insights where appropriate
  • Conduct SEO audits and provide optimization recommendations that improve visibility, search rankings, and overall digital performance, incorporating emerging AI-powered tools and best practices
  • Help grow Simantel’s internal fluency in technical marketing and marketing technology tools

To produce these outcomes, I need to:
  • Work directly with client teams to assess current marketing technology stacks and provide direction for improvement
  • Translate business and marketing requirements into system specifications and documentation
  • Partner with analytics leads to align tagging plans, data layer structure, and KPI frameworks
  • Lead or co-lead technical marketing strategy workshops and presentations
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools for use internally and with clients, including both custom code and low-code/no-code solutions
  • Maintain awareness of technology shifts and trends that impact digital marketing and data privacy

The skills and abilities I require are:
  • Working knowledge of content management systems, CRM, and marketing automation platforms
  • Familiarity with web tagging and tracking using tools like Google Tag Manager, GA4, and Adobe Analytics
  • Comfort with API workflows, basic scripting, and low-code/no-code automation tools (e.g., Zapier, Make, Microsoft Power Automate)
  • Experience with or a strong curiosity in leveraging emerging AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), predictive analytics, and agentic AI, to drive smarter strategies and automated solutions
  • Experience managing or supporting cross-functional marketing and technology teams
  • Strong documentation, communication, and client-facing presentation skills
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements in a marketing context and vice versa
  • Experience with SEO and AI-enhanced tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog, or generative AI-driven platforms, and ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations
  • Google Analytics IQ certification is required

To produce these outcomes, I have decision-making authority over the following:
  • Technical recommendations and best practices to deliver client marketing goals
  • Design and rollout of internal tools, automations, and GPTs for Simantel teams
  • Documentation and guidance provided to clients and internal teams regarding systems use and governance

Leading indicators of my success are:
  • Increased client satisfaction with technical delivery and problem-solving
  • Successful deployment of internal tools that reduce manual work and increase speed to delivery
  • Positive feedback from team members and clients on technical clarity and collaboration
Long-term indicators of my success are:
  • Improved marketing performance and data visibility for clients due to sound technical setup
  • Scaled use of internal tools and automation across departments
  • Recognition of Simantel’s technical marketing capabilities in competitive pitches and case studies
