Job Description:
Microchip Technology is seeking a highly skilled Technical Staff Engineer – Test to join our Networking and Connectivity Solutions (NCS) division. This role is critical in leading pre- and post-silicon test engineering activities to support the development and high-volume manufacturing of advanced integrated circuit (IC) products. You will collaborate with global teams across design, verification, validation, product engineering, manufacturing, and quality to ensure robust and efficient product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive pre-silicon characterization test plans based on product features.
Perform test program development and ATE board design for both existing and new product initiatives.
Support R&D and Operations teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with Microchip’s Quality System requirements.
Debug test programs and execute characterization plans.
Analyze silicon performance, yield, and device marginalities.
Drive cost and quality improvements across wafer fabrication, assembly, probe, final test, and supply chain.
Additional Responsibilities
Mentor and coach junior engineers.
Conduct production test yield analysis and root cause investigations.
Support analysis of customer returns and drive enhancements in manufacturing and test processes.
Collaborate with customer quality and applications teams to resolve issues and ensure high customer satisfaction.
Design and develop PCBs for IC environmental qualification.
Analyze multi-source data and generate reports for characterization, qualification, and yield analysis.
Requirements/Qualifications:
BSEE with 12+ years of experience in semiconductor IC development.
Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, from transistor to system level.
Hands-on experience with ATE hardware/software development (e.g., Diamond X, J750, Uflex).
Expertise in silicon development, validation, qualification, and correlation methodologies.
Advanced statistical data analysis skills; proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Perl) and tools (e.g., YieldHub).
Familiarity with version control systems (GIT, SVN, Perforce).
Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
Skilled in using bench lab equipment (oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.).
Experience working with customers to address technical and logistical concerns.
Proven leadership in multi-geographic product development from concept to production.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Flexibility to collaborate with global teams and accommodate lab usage schedules.
Preferred:
MSEE
Knowledge of IC packaging, testing, and manufacturing technologies.
Experience with TS16949 or IATF16949 quality standards.
Understanding of ISO-26262 Automotive Functional Safety.
Expertise in generating test procedures and plans.
Proficiency in PCB schematic design, layout, assembly, and debugging.
Experience in IC failure analysis.
