The Technical Specialist supports Service Dispatch and Parts operations within Customer Service by coordinating all Service and Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities. This role handles customer service requests, supports the Technical Service Hotline, creates Service Logs and Field Service Reports, updates the Workforce Scheduler (Gantt), and coordinates schedules between Service Engineers and customers. The Technical Specialist also manages parts ordering and shipping, issues Return Authorizations for unused and warranty parts, and tracks returns to completion. This position ensures accurate documentation and tracking of service activities, assists with service-related collections, and reports regularly to Customer Resource Center – Service leadership. Occasional on-site spot service support may be required.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate with customers, Service management, and supervisors to assess service needs, align schedules, ensure customer satisfaction, and support proper billing and PO collection.
  • Plan and schedule service manpower, resources, materials, and equipment to support service and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Manage crash kits, tools, and equipment, ensuring proper use, safe operation, timely return, and maintenance for optimal performance.
  • Provide technical support, including telephone-based troubleshooting for FANUC robots and peripheral equipment, and perform spot service calls as needed.
  • Prepare service-related documentation and deliverables, including service quotes, while ensuring accurate communication and follow-up.
  • Communicate proactively with customers and internal teams (Service, Sales, and Engineering) to provide real-time updates on service issues, progress, and resolutions.

 Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts or Electrical Technician diploma or Licensed Electrician certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in automation integration and/or installation, with hands-on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting, teardown, and repair experience
  • Excellent phone etiquette with strong caller management, communication, and customer service skills
  • Strong business and technical written and verbal communication abilities
  • Professional, courteous demeanor with the ability to remain positive in challenging or high-pressure customer situations
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient in PC-based business systems, including Microsoft Office and related tools
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic prints and documentation.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including unscheduled or extended hours when necessary
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including first, second, and third shifts as business needs require
  • PLC knowledge preferred; prior exposure to FANUC RJ, RJ2, RJ3, RJ3iB, R-30iA, and R-30iB controller platforms 
  • Works effectively both independently at customer sites and collaboratively with internal teams
