Technical Services Manager
Huntsman is seeking a Technical Services Manager supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This position will report to the Technology & Innovation Director.
Job Scope
- Manage and provide technical services support to a portfolio of customers and market spaces.
- Lead a team of scientists and technicians.
- Collaborate with team members and support functions to ensure projects are progressing according to milestones and customer deliverables.
In summary, as the Technical Services Manager, you will:
- To ensure that all work undertaken is carried out in full compliance with Huntsman’s EH&S procedures and policies and strive for continuous improvement in safety performance.
- To manage his/her team by setting annual personal objectives, reviewing performance including addressing individual needs for coaching and development.
- To assign projects and workload assignments to his/her team members.
- To define and manage projects and technical services that help our customers successfully utilize our products in their applications.
- To actively engage with the Sales team on identifying potential issues or support that our customers may need.
- To drive the resolution of technical or applications issues that our customers may experience while utilizing our products and help launch new products or existing products with our customers.
- Network with colleagues in the other technical services teams in the region on technologies and best practices.
- About 25% travel is required.
- To ensure that the right technical and application skills are available or being developed to allow successful service support of our products.
- Ensure all team members perform in accordance with Huntsman’s environment health and safety policies, as well Huntsman’s corporate compliance and ethics policies.
- To prepare technical overviews, summaries, and information materials for issues that have been resolved by the team.
- To establish and build network with external partners as appropriate, e.g. with other Huntsman divisions, raw material suppliers, and machine suppliers.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with a demonstrated track record of success in technical services.
- 5+ years of experience in directly interfacing with customers.
- 1+ years of experience managing a team of scientists or technicians.
Skills and Knowledge
- The incumbent, due to his/her experience, must be able to switch back and forth between tactical and strategic issues.
- Professional communication, writing and presentation skills, are required.
- The ability to work directly with customers, suppliers, or partners in the execution of projects.
- The ability to professionally interact with senior business personnel on a frequent basis and executive management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with polyurethane materials.
- A demonstrated comprehension of business assessment principles, business case development and technical strategy processes are highly preferred.
- A demonstrated comprehension of project management skills.
