GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Technical Staff Consultant provides support to the ChemTreat field sales representatives as needed throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical support to ChemTreat sales representatives in product screening and treatment program selections, the application of chosen treatment programs, and in troubleshooting treatment programs to meet the customer’s cost and performance objectives.
- Technical Consultants are responsible for actively participating in the technology selection stage the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for products and solutions.
- Assist account managers in conducting interviews with client management to gain an understanding of client business conditions, risks, and controls.
- Identify, develop, and document issues and recommendations using independent judgment concerning areas being reviewed.
- Interface with clients leads and become a trusted advisor or confidant to the client.
- Cultivate successful client relationships.
- Available for field sales assistance to include plant surveys, proposal preparation, sales presentations, and customer/prospect entertainment with the involvement of our field sales representatives.
- Conduct equipment inspections classified as confined space as defined by OSHA will be required.
- Travel throughout the continental U.S. on an average of three days/two nights per week.
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proficient with ChemTreat portable field equipment.
- Provide office support function when not traveling to include telephone assistance, proposal and drawing proofreading, bid preparation, etc., as requested by our office clerical staff.
- Assist in field seminars, entertainment outings, and new account startup as directed by your manager.
- Provide sales and marketing support for specific industries.
- Provide field troubleshooting and technical assistance as required to include problem solving, sales representative on-site training, operator training, and equipment inspections.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Technical and in-depth knowledge in one or more key industries, including boiler internal treatment, BFW pretreatment, cooling water treatment, biological wastewater and surface water clarification

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Arts/Sciences or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering, comparable military experience, or related fields is required.
- 7-10 or more years’ experience with a major water treatment company.
- Background in one or more key industries involving boiler, pretreatment, and open process cooling water treatment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Constantly required to sit and occasionally required to walk, stand, climb (includes stairs), balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell
- Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards.
- Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn/twist, or reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT
- Required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for deliveries which may include; eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.
- Occasionally in extreme heat conditions
- Required to use ear plugs for hearing protection
- Both Indoor and outdoor sites may have high noise levels
- Site location may be at a boiler house
- Outdoor site can be located at a cooling tower, water plant, wastewater plant, or a process area.
- Use of hazardous chemicals is routine.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $190,000 - $200,000 USD per year.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
