Job DescriptionLGC is seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Manager to support and expand our TNAC and Virusys portfolios across the United States. The TNAC and Virusys portfolios include native and recombinant antigens, antibodies, viral proteins, and critical reagents used in immunoassays, vaccine development, infectious disease research, and diagnostic manufacturing.
This role is ideal for a scientifically trained professional with a strong background in immunology, virology, or protein biology who is passionate about customer engagement, technical sales, and business development in the life sciences and diagnostics markets.
To excel in this role, the individual must proficiently execute the following essential functions:
- Prospecting & Business Development:
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities across biopharma, diagnostics manufacturers, CROs, and academic institutions.
- Expand existing customer relationships by uncovering additional applications for TNAC reagents (e.g., assay development, QC, vaccine R&D).
- Drive revenue growth through proactive outreach including targeted account strategies, cold calls, email campaigns, and virtual engagement.
- Map key accounts involved in immunoassay development, infectious disease testing, and biologics development.
- Technical Sales & Customer Engagement:
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations focused on TNAC reagents, including antigens, antibodies, and viral proteins.
- Understand and address customer challenges related to assay sensitivity/specificity, reagent consistency, and supply chain reliability.
- Provide consultative support for reagent selection in applications such as:
- ELISA and lateral flow assay development
- Neutralization and binding assays
- Vaccine and therapeutic research
- Diagnostic kit manufacturing
- Translate complex biological and biochemical concepts into clear value propositions for diverse stakeholders.
- Account Management & Support:
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure retention and long-term partnership growth.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, R&D, and operations to align on customer needs, custom projects, and supply requirements.
- Track and report sales activities, pipeline status, customer feedback, and market intelligence in CRM systems.
- Support forecasting, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
- Industry and Product Knowledge:
- Develop deep expertise in:
- Infectious disease biomarkers and viral proteins
- Immunoassay workflows and reagent requirements
- Biopharma and diagnostic manufacturing processes
- Maintain awareness of market trends (e.g., emerging pathogens, vaccine pipelines, assay modality shifts).
- Effectively position LGC TNAC products against competitors in terms of quality, validation, and scalability.
- Develop deep expertise in:
- Strategic & Market Development
- Analyze market opportunities and identify high-growth segments (e.g., emerging infectious diseases, multiplex diagnostics, vaccine programs).
- Contribute to go-to-market strategies, including new product launches and portfolio expansion.
- Provide voice-of-customer (VOC) insights to inform product development and roadmap prioritization.
- Other Duties as Assigned:
- Demonstrate flexibility and collaboration in supporting corporate initiatives and evolving business priorities.
- Represent LGC at conferences, trade shows, and customer site visits.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a biological field (e.g., Immunology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry); Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, lateral flow) or protein based workflows.
- Prior experience in technical sales, account management, or customer-facing scientific support preferred.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to a broad audience.
- Strong computer skills required, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Ability to work remotely and manage multiple priorities effectively.
