The Technical Sales Manager (TSM) role described is a critical position within Nextracker, located in Madrid, Spain. This TSM position entails various responsibilities, including working with key accounts on a global scale, managing technical aspects of Distributed Generation and utility-scale PV (Photovoltaic) projects from their development stages, and providing pre-sales technical and account management support. Reporting Structure: The TSM will report directly to the Global Sales Engineering Director, but also work closely with the local regional Sales Director to determine key metrics for success. Key Account Management: The TSM will work closely with important accounts across the globe. This involves building and maintaining strong relationships with these Engineering and Procurement teams on the customer’s side and the Nextracker Account Manager Technical Expertise: The role involves managing technical responses for DG and utility-scale PV projects. This includes addressing technical inquiries, providing solutions, reviewing design and quote documentation, and ensuring that technical aspects align with the clients' needs and expectations. Design & Engineering Oversight: The TSM will play a pivotal role in decision-making related to the design and engineering aspects of Nextracker's projects. This includes defining the technical scope, responding to technical requests for proposals (RFTs), reviewing project engineering documentation, and providing guidance on value engineering. Collaboration: The TSM will collaborate closely with both Nextracker and Client engineers and designers. This collaborative effort is essential for making informed decisions about design and engineering details. Global and Cross Functional Interaction: The TSM will interface regularly with engineering teams based in Spain, India and the US. The TSM role will also be extremely cross functional and work with various internal teams such as Marketing, Project Management, Supply Chain and Research & Development (R&D) teams located around the world. Effective communication and collaboration are key aspects of the role. Customer Interaction: Externally, the TSM will keep customers informed about Nextracker's product and service offerings, provide competitive project proposals, and negotiate and close deals. The TSM will work closely with local regional sales reps to ensure we are properly engaged and aligned with customers’ project and portfolio needs. Learning Opportunities: The TSM role offers significant learning opportunities, as it involves working at the intersection of sales and engineering. It provides the chance to gain a deep understanding of both technical and business aspects.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

  • Manage day-to-day interactions with key account stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze customer information for successful bid and RFT submission.
  • Identify, target, and educate key decision makers from both EPC’s and developers/owners on Nextracker’s value propositions and USP’s. 
  • Collaborates with internal cross-functional departments to ensure optimal winning bid strategies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and present customer proposals as technical support.
  • Issue preliminary bids based on available project information with appropriate qualifications. 
  • Work closely with the team Director, regional leader and/or business development team members on creative deal structuring and bid strategy.
  • Ensure accurate forecasts and data hygiene in the CRM system.
  • Properly maintain customer and stakeholder expectations, ensure timely response to stakeholders.
  • Grow the Sales Engineering team as required in both size and scope of work.

Here is some of what you will need (required):

  • BS/BA in a business or technical field (BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Knowledge of construction sheet sets and project design of PV plants
  • 5+ years of solution based B2B technical pre-sales preferred, program/project management experience. 
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil a plus
  • Passion for solar a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience utilizing Salesforce, CRM and NetSuite, ERP
  • Proven analytical background.
  • Ability to execute and manage multiple tasks in parallel. 
  • Ability to travel to meet with customers in person 25% of the time.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Additional language fluency is a plus.
