Weatherford International is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Lead specializing in Completions to join our dynamic team in Lagos, Nigeria. This role combines technical expertise in oil and gas completions technology with strategic sales leadership to drive revenue growth and expand Weatherford's market presence in the region.   

Responsibilities:

OPERATIONS

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets for Weatherford's completions product lines in Nigeria and surrounding regions.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at major oil and gas operators, providing technical solutions to meet their completions challenges.

  • Lead technical presentations, product demonstrations, and field trials to showcase Weatherford's completions technologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and marketing to develop customized solutions for clients.

  • Provide detailed technical guidance on completions equipment selection, installation procedures, and operational best practices.

  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals, including detailed cost estimates and project timelines.

  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements with clients, ensuring favorable terms while maintaining strong customer relationships.

  • Monitor project execution to ensure customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional services.

  • Mentor and develop junior technical sales staff, building a high-performing team.

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and activity reports using CRM systems.

CLIENT COMMUNICATION

  • Builds and maintains a strong presence with key customers, including regular office visits and technical dialogue.

  • Participates in customer meetings and presentations, both independently and alongside senior colleagues.

  • Contributes to the development of tailored value propositions based on customer application and project needs.

  • Maintains a clear understanding of customer expectations, challenges, and upcoming activities to proactively identify sales opportunities.

  • Provides input on cross-PL opportunities and communicates customer feedback and competitive insights internally.

Supports internal and external PL demonstrations and knowledge-sharing sessions where appropriate.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

  • Contributes to the generation of revenue by supporting the development of compelling technical proposals that align with pricing and commercial strategy.

  • Supports the Account Manager and Commercial team in aligning technical deliverables with financial targets.

  • Ensures that proposal content reflects the technical scope accurately to mitigate risk and support sustainable margins.

  • Participates in regular review meetings to evaluate past proposal outcomes and improve future submissions.


Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years in completions technology sales or operations.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in completions equipment and services, including sand control, liner hangers, packers, flow control devices, and intelligent completions.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing market share in the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong understanding of West African oil and gas market dynamics, particularly in Nigeria.
  • Experience working with major international and national oil companies operating in Nigeria.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and business acumen.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office suite, and technical software.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Nigeria and occasionally internationally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Qualifications & Experience Preferred:

  • Experience with Weatherford's completions product lines and services.
  • Knowledge of local content requirements and business practices in Nigeria.
  • Understanding of HSSE policies and procedures in oilfield operations.
  • Experience working in challenging environments and remote locations.
  • Familiarity with deepwater and shallow water completions technologies.
  • Professional certifications relevant to completions engineering or sales management.
