Job Description: Technical Sales Engineer (Bearings & Rotating Equipment)
We are seeking a motivated Technical Sales Engineer to support the expansion of an international distributor’s operations in Uganda. The company is a regional leader in industrial solutions and works directly with SKF, the world leader in bearings, lubrication systems, and rotating equipment performance.
This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career engineer with strong technical knowledge of bearings and rotating machinery, who is eager to apply their expertise in a customer-facing role.
Role Summary
The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for:
Conducting site visits to industrial clients (e.g., manufacturing plants, breweries, cement, and mining operations).
Providing technical support and recommending SKF products and solutions tailored to customer needs.
Supporting the sales team with technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer training.
Advising internal teams on stock requirements based on client needs and equipment usage.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Carry out client site visits to assess bearing applications and recommend appropriate SKF solutions.
Work alongside sales colleagues to prepare proposals and deliver technical presentations.
Provide basic troubleshooting and guidance on proper use of bearings and rotating equipment.
Support customer training sessions and product demonstrations.
Share insights with management to guide stock planning and ensure product availability.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
2–4 years’ experience in industrial maintenance, rotating equipment, or bearings (experience in manufacturing, cement, mining, or breweries preferred).
Solid technical understanding of bearings and lubrication systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and presentation skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
Willingness to travel to client sites within Uganda.
Proactive learner with the drive to grow through SKF’s technical training programs.
