Technical Project & Performance Manager is a blended, high-impact role sitting at the intersection of technical project delivery and strategic portfolio performance management. It both governs and directly drive the execution of key technical projects, while also playing a key part in how we document, visualize, and communicate the health of our overall technology project portfolio and strategy.
The role works closely with the Head of Strategic Planning and Delivery and partner with Tech Management, including directors and senior technical leads, making this a role that demands both strong hands-on delivery capability and the ability to operate comfortably at a strategic level.

Key Responsibilities

Programme & Project Delivery
  • Own and drive the end-to-end delivery of key technical strategic projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and scope are clearly defined, baselined, and continuously monitored

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders across departments to align project goals, deliverables, and resource allocation

  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and issues that could impact delivery, and develop clear mitigation strategies

  • Coordinate technical resources across project teams, ensuring the right skills and tools are in place to succeed

  • Communicate progress efficiently and transparently to stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams to senior leadership

Portfolio Governance & Performance Management
  • Support the governance of the broader technical project portfolio, ensuring all initiatives have well-defined business cases, clear success criteria, and robust KPI frameworks

  • Oversee a structured, recurring process for collecting and consolidating performance updates from project teams, covering status, financials, risks, and key metrics

  • Develop and maintain visually engaging, automated dashboards that give leadership and stakeholders real-time visibility into portfolio health and project performance

  • Translate complex performance data into clear, actionable reports and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Maintain comprehensive, well-structured documentation of strategic initiatives and their performance over time

Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Analyse project and portfolio performance data to surface bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities

  • Integrate lessons learned from completed projects into future delivery practices

  • Act as a key liaison between project teams, Tech Management, and wider business stakeholders to maintain alignment and foster collaboration

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance processes and reporting frameworks

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Technical Programme Manager or Senior Project Manager, ideally within a technology-driven organisation

  • Strong understanding of technical project delivery, with at least 5 years of experience starting in software development, engineering, or QA roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to govern and report on a portfolio of projects, not just manage individual deliveries

  • Excellent data visualisation and documentation skills - you know how to make complex information clear, structured, and visually compelling

  • Strong proficiency with project management and reporting tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Power BI, or similar)

  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and/or Kanban

  • Solid understanding of project management frameworks and governance best practices

  • Strong analytical mindset with experience defining and tracking KPIs and performance metrics

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills - equally comfortable presenting to a CTO and working alongside a delivery team

  • Organised, structured, and detail-oriented, with a proactive and hands-on approach to getting things done

Education / Qualifications / Tools & Methodologies
  • Technical background, perhaps started off your career working with software development or within QA

  • Degree education in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Familiarity with strategic planning processes and portfolio-level reporting

How will success be measured in this role
  • Regular performance reviews with your line manager

  • Acting in line with FDJ UNITED values

  • Compliance with all relevant trainings and other activities related to the role
