*This position is on-site/hybrid and will report into our New Century, Kansas location*

 The role of Technical Project Manager will manage IT projects to implement business systems which drive change and improve efficiency throughout our organization. They will partner with business stakeholders to understand and define scope, develop project plans, hold project team members accountable for work quality and timeliness, manage system testing activities, coordinate training efforts to support adoption, and ensure stakeholders and steering committees are frequently updated on project status, risks, issues, and milestones.

Essential Functions:

• Work closely with business teams, acting as partner to help them gain desired outcomes from projects.

• Drive project teams to be as effective and efficient as possible, push for achievable but still aggressive timelines.

• Create and update project plans and documentation and hold team members accountable for timeline and functionality

commitments.

• Regularly send professional and detailed project updates to project stakeholders.

• Schedule and lead project update meetings with stakeholders and project team members.

• Coordinate various meetings with cross functional team members to define scope of projects.

• Tightly control project scope and ensure scope changes follow agreed upon approval processes.

• Implement best-practices to optimize delivery performance.

• Ensure project teams exemplify a culture of teamwork, partnership, and shared accountability

• Keep project meetings and discussions on-topic and on-track to ensure they are efficient and effective.

• Manage testing activities for systems and applications, including planning, coordination, execution tracking, and issue resolution.

• Author, implement, and manage training plans and activities to support successful adoption of new or enhanced systems.

• Personally participate in testing new systems, in order to understand system functionality as well as better support business testers of the new system. 

• Present project status, risks, issues, and milestones to executive steering committees on a regular basis.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

5+ years of full-time experience managing technical projects ideally for a multi-site enterprise

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Project Management preferred; equivalent combination of related experience and demonstrated project/program delivery capabilities will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus

• Experience managing system testing plans for new systems or upgrades.

• Ability to work a hybrid on-site schedule, typically 3 days per week in the New Century, KS office.

• Ability to occasionally travel (<10%) to other company facilities for project-related meetings or go-lives.

Skills:

• Ability to effectively hold others accountable to commitments and deadlines without direct reporting authority

• Strong planning skills and ability to create and maintain project plans

• High attention to detail, problem solving, and critical thinking capabilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills

• Comfortable with a variety of project management styles (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)

• Ability to act as a bridge between technical team members and business stakeholders

• Driver of continuous improvement

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects/items simultaneously

• Ability to leverage AI tools (CoPilot, Claude, etc.) to streamline administrative tasks and reduce time required to complete routine project management activities

Skills Required
