Technical Project Manager - Large Scale Study of Health and Human Performance

Job Description
BAE Space & Mission Systems in Fairborn, OH, is looking for a Technical Project Manager to provide research coordination support for the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Continuous Fitness Assessment Continuous Operational Readiness Evaluation (CFA CORE) study. In this role, you will work side-by-side with our customer to manage a longitudinal human subject research effort supporting the U.S. Space Force. You will be responsible for balancing regulatory requirements, study timelines, and participant safety while ensuring the seamless execution of wearable technology integration and human-performance assessments. Ability to obtain a DoW Secret clearance is required.

What You'll Do:

• Study Operations & Coordination:
  • Maintain study schedules and track recruitment, enrollment, and laboratory activities. Manage milestone, risk, and issue tracking and lead study meetings.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple organizations and stakeholders. Work closely with the AFRL PI, the operational community, and external stakeholders to ensure relevant goals are being met and identify future priorities for development. Work with these groups to ensure research goals align with the AFRL's mission.
  • Work with others, including partner contractors, to ensure necessary ordering and shipping or other logistical requirements have been communicated in accordance with customer direction.
  • Collaborate with others at all levels of the BAE business to support project and program success, including mentorship of more junior individuals.
• Participant Management:
  • Coordinate recruitment, screening, onboarding, and retention management of participants in accordance with IRB-approved procedures, serving as a primary point of contact serving in a non-clinical capacity.
• Regulatory Oversight:
  • Manage regulatory records and track IRB approvals, certifications, and delegation of authority records to ensure compliance with human-subject protection standards.
  • Report safety concerns, privacy incidents, or noncompliance immediately to relevant parties
  • Keep BAE organizational and programmatic leadership informed and aware of status, issues, concerns, challenges, and opportunities.
• Wearable Technology:
  • Oversee the distribution, synchronization, and recovery of Government-furnished wearable devices and equipment, ensuring accurate accountability and monthly reconciliation.
• Assessment Coordination:
  • Schedule and document physical-performance assessments, blood draws, and cognitive measures within protocol-defined windows.
• Data Quality Control:
  • Monitor study data for completeness and accuracy, identifying discrepancies and documenting protocol deviations and corrective actions.
• Reporting:
  • Prepare weekly status reports and monthly executive summaries for Government leadership, detailing accomplishments, risks, and required decisions.
  • Prepare inputs to the monthly overall program status report.
  • Prepare final reports of research findings, including whitepapers, peer reviewed journal articles, and presentations at academic and industry conferences for inclusion in the overall program final report.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• BS/BA in a related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoW Secret clearance and required installation/network access.
• At least three years of experience supporting human-subject, clinical, or human-performance research, preferably with the AFRL customer.
• Experience with research environments and IRB submission processes, preferably with the Department of War (DoW).
• Proven experience in research scheduling, regulatory documentation, and longitudinal tracking.
• A self-starter with organizational skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize tasks while working both independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint).

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Research, Public Health, Biomedical Science, Psychology, Project Management, or a related field.
• Recognized clinical research or project management certification.
• Experience with wearable technology or biomarker research, specifically expertise in designing and conducting research using these metrics to assess human performance.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
