Technical Project Manager: Firmware

Summary
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for managing cross-functional teams, working with electrical engineers, firmware developers, and testing engineers in successful planning, execution, and completion of medical wearable devices crossing entire product development life cycle.
Essential Functions
- Develop project plans and schedules in collaboration with product team, technical leaders, and management team.
- Leverage technical know-how of hardware development, firmware development and testing to build comprehensive device level plans and milestones that are consistent with timeline and resource constraints.
- Monitor day-to-day plan execution, help team identify issues earlier and drive actions to resolution.
- Enforce product development life cycle best practices such as: requirement driven design and testing, change management process, peer review process, traceability, configuration management control, etc.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals.
- Identify potential project risks related to safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in the context of medical device design and development.

Competencies
- Experience in firmware development and testing.
- Experience in hardware design of analog or digital circuits.
- Experience in system level testing.
- Experience in Encryption/Cyber Security preferred.
- Experience with issue tracking tools (e.g. Jira).
- Experience with documentation tools (e.g. Aligned Elements)
- Experience with source code version control management tools (e.g. Bitbucket).
- Knowledge of software development in regulatory environments such as FDA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other engineering disciple) with an MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 5 year experience as a firmware developer
- Prior experience as hardware developer preferred.
- Minimum 2 year experience as a project manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Project planning: Defining project scope, setting goals, creating detailed project plans, allocating resources, and establishing timelines.
- Team leadership: Assembling and motivating a project team, assigning tasks, delegating responsibilities, and managing team dynamics.
- Budget management: Developing and monitoring project budgets, identifying cost variances, and taking corrective actions.
- Progress tracking: Regularly monitoring project progress against the plan, identifying potential issues, and taking necessary actions to stay on track.
- Risk management: Identifying potential risks, developing mitigation strategies, and proactively addressing issues that could impact project success.
- Stakeholder communication: Keeping stakeholders informed about project status, addressing concerns, and managing expectations.
- Quality control: Ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards and requirements.
- Issue resolution: Identifying and resolving project issues promptly and efficiently.
- Project closure: Completing all project deliverables, documenting lessons learned, and conducting post-project evaluations.
