Job Summary
As part of Iron Mountain’s global expansion plan for our Digital Business, we are looking to bring advanced Robotic Automation solutions to cost effectively support our ambitious growth targets. The Robotic Automation Technical Program Manager will lead Iron Mountain’s entry in robotics.This is a highly visible program and marks a key milestone in our operational transformation journey.
The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end project execution, and serve as our technical and business liaison with our Robotic Automation partners to ensure our Robotic Automation solution will meet our operational and business requirements. This role will manage the overall project scope, project metrics, budget, and schedule for the company
This position offers a unique opportunity to pioneer robotic automation within our operations, laying the foundation for future robotic and digital initiatives. A successful candidate should be able to balance the various trade-offs for automation solutions and work through various challenges and setbacks to navigate the path to successful deployment and operation of the automated solutions. The other critical skill is the ability to rally the various internal and external team members so they can act as one team focusing on joint success.
What You’ll Do
Project Leadership & Management
Lead the overall execution of the robotic project according to defined scope, cost, and schedule.
Act as the main point of contact between Robotic Design firm, Manufacturing partners, Iron Mountain operations and internal support functions.
Coordinate risk analysis with the integrator and manage validation tests and/or proofs of concept on critical automation steps where the technical solution is not yet fully defined.
Ensure that the project achieves its performance targets in terms of time to market, capacity, quality, throughput, cost and availability.
Manage project governance, including the preparation and facilitation of regular Steering Committees.
Guarantee compliance with all industrial, safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Lead the discussion and planning on the details of the suitable use cases, including the phased adoption of advanced automation in Iron Mountain operation.
Planning & Coordination
Work with internal stakeholders and customers to develop business requirements, technical and standards parameters for our process including product variation definition, technical requirements, safety requirements, compliance to necessary standards etc.
Develop/review concepts to confirm the design will meet required performance metrics including cycle time, yield, uptime, CPK and Gage R&R.
Consult our automation provider on mechanisms, timing, stations and machines using 3D modeling software (e.g. SolidWorks)
Support fabrication, assembly, debug, and validation activities to ensure design conforms to our requirements and specifications.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets in coordination with all stakeholders across Iron Mountain and our Robotic Partners
Establish deadlines throughout the project and monitor project performance to find improvement opportunities and identify and resolve issues within the project scope.
Define and manage resources to reach objectives in an effective and efficient manner.
Track project costs to meet the established budget.
Provide project updates to ensure schedule, scope, and budget are maintained
Communicate with internal and external customers to meet project needs.
Technical & Operational Readiness
Work with the internal Iron Mountain team and the external partners to plan ahead the integration and commissioning effort of the advanced automation solution so the proper infrastructure will be in place.
Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of robotic equipment with the integrator and internal teams.
Contribute to defining and validating technical specifications, FAT/SAT protocols, and ramp-up performance targets.
Ensure the project delivers a robust and sustainable production system, ready for full-scale industrial operation.
Manage the training plan for operators and technicians, ensuring they are prepared to work on or alongside the new robotic line.
Lead the communication and change management plan with operations to foster understanding, engagement, and a positive mindset among employees as automation is introduced.
Coordinate operational resources and support organizations to ensure smooth implementation, execution and readiness.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Work with the internal and external team to put together the roadmap for continuous improvement
Monitor and report project progress, risks, and KPIs to ensure Robotic solutions meet operational and business requirements.
Identify and document lessons learned to establish a repeatable model for future automation projects.
Promote continuous improvement in productivity, ergonomics, safety, and quality through automation.
Ensure the project contributes to building our imaging operational internal competencies in automation and robotics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering( (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, or Industrial Engineering preferred).
Minimum of 5 years experience in project management for AI / automation solutions
Minimum of 5 years in the field of automation
Past non-trivial role in the commissioning and operation of advanced automation solutions
Experience in managing both internal resources and external partners
