What we need 

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager of Engineering Operations to join our team. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects across Software Development, DevOps and IT, Hardware and Electromechanical Systems, and AI and Machine Learning. Your proven track record in project management within robotics, automation, or related high-tech fields will be critical. You will utilize your strong technical expertise and excellent problem-solving skills to drive innovation and operational efficiency. Additionally, your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management will ensure that projects enhance technological advancement and support sustainable business growth.

We oversee a vast array of complex projects across Software Development, DevOps and IT, Hardware and Electromechanical Systems, and AI and Machine Learning. We lead with strategic oversight, ensuring that every project not only aligns with our technological ambitions but also supports our overarching business objectives. 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Monitor and manage workload for large division within Symbotic engineering working daily with engineering leadership (CTO, SVP, VP). 

  • Define, track and prioritize team sprints ensuring compliance of work tickets and development process; manage and report to leadership team KPIs and overall execution. 

  • Oversee change management implementation for teams, quality of test execution and readiness for deployment to production. 

  • Lead the post-production audit to validate system deliverable performance against technical requirements and production site metrics. 

  • Coordinate with team on root-cause investigations and corrective action implementation for issues and problems incurred in production or that cause site downtime. 

  • Work with team leads to drive issues to closure and coordinate adoption of new features and development updates. 

  • Ensure all Jira tickets are prioritized, driven, and closed with clear actions, owners, and dates. Make the news not just report the news. 

  • Identify technical issues that could affect the program success and help the team navigate them.  

  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings and regularly communicate initiative status to teams and senior management.  

  • Work closely with engineering managers and leads, product managers/owners, to ensure rapid execution and on time, high quality delivery for the system. 

  • Foster a culture focused on transparency, speed of decision-making, and a synchronized partnership with cross-functional teams.  

  • Ensure rapid execution and on time, high quality delivery of complex programs.  

  • Interact with and motivate talented engineering teams across multiple locations, harness their high energy to deliver high quality products. 

  • Continuously challenge and improve our internal processes to find efficiencies.  

  • Continuously challenge and improve our way of working by implementing new standards, processes and procedures that streamline interactions and communication across teams.  

 

What you’ll need 

  • 8+ years of experience, with 5+ years of technical project management experience. 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering.  

  • Demonstrated leadership experience coordinating technical development across large engineering organization (50+ persons teams). 

  • Proficient in analyzing data and reporting key results at executive level. 

  • Technical background in following is a plus – Robotics, Automation Technology, Automated Warehouse / DC Systems, Mobile Robots / Perception / AI, Software Engineering, IT, Hardware Engineering, Industrial Controls 

  • Highly experienced with full product development lifecycle from inception through delivery and service support to customer. 

  • Industry experience with project management, data and visualization tools (e.g. Jira, Tableau, Qlik). 

  • High potential engineering lead: fast learner, key contributor, strong work ethic, high energy and potential to take on increased scope of engineering management responsibility. 

  • Experience using Jira, organizing, and writing tickets. 

  • Experience writing SQL queries. 

  • Experience facilitating dynamic meetings, coordinating among high energy participants, and directing towards productive results.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to clearly articulate program information to any level of the company. Ability to effectively present and drive program deliverables to CTO and staff. 

  • Experience with agile methodologies.  

  • Experience with problem solving methodologies.  

  • Experience defining releases, identifying risks, and controlling scope. 

  • Experience with using metrics and data analysis to support or drive the right or most beneficial process improvements.  

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, willingness to adapt to change and proceed on decisions made with varying levels of uncertainty.  

  • Ability to build and manage cross functional relationships. 

  • Advanced degree in related engineering or business management fields is a plus. 

  • Experience with industrial/robotic automation is a plus. 

  • Experience with high tech manufacturing is a plus. 

  • Experience with rapid growth companies is a plus. 

  • PMP Certification is a plus.
