The Role
Consultant, Asset Owner - GF08AE

We’re determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals – and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.

A Technical Product Owner plays an integral role in the successful design, deployment, and adoption of end-to-end analytical solutions to better serve our business partners. This role will support the Small Business organization as part of the Small Business Data Science team. The Small Business Data Science team is one of three practices (business-aligned teams) in the broader Business Insurance Data Science, AI and Analytics organization and plays a critical role in achieving business goals via data-driven decision making and AI adoption.

The Technical Product Owner will play a significant role in building relationships with key stakeholders to develop data science and advanced analytics strategies and to drive successful execution, delivery, and adoption of assets. Implementation and adoption of the assets is a key success criterion for the position, which hinges on your ability to navigate multiple stakeholders and articulate both internal customer needs and business value of Data Science products.

As a Technical Product Owner, you will be expected to build relationships and partner with stakeholders to ensure that data science solutions are addressing business problems as intended and achieving the expected value. You will identify gaps and opportunities in existing processes and devise new or improved data science solutions to identify risks, enhance processes, and increase operational efficiency. Additionally, this role provides tactical support to the Data Science team by driving project execution, roadmaps, and regular updates to business partners. The ability to take detailed data science output and highlight key findings, results, and recommendations to our business partners is fundamental to project success.

This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday)

Responsibilities:

  • Build strong partnerships with business customers and technology partners, and act as key point of contact for several Data Science assets with internal stakeholders

  • Assist in identifying opportunities to evolve or reuse existing assets or develop new assets that could add operational and business value

  • Assist with the marketing strategy of key capstone initiatives. Build customer artifacts to support adoption, marketing and socialization including documentation, project plans, and roadmaps

  • Develop disciplined project timelines and support teams’ capacities to deliver results in a timely manner

  • Act as product owner for a team supporting development of multiple projects, with direct accountability over backlog prioritization and refinement.

  • Assist in execution of well-designed communication plans tailored to audiences ranging from technical peers to business stakeholders of various levels

  • Assist in development of vision and strategic planning, success criteria, CBA and value propositions for Data Science assets

  • Assist in development of new processes and best practices to mature the operating model of the broader Data Science, AI and Analytics team

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in business consulting, analytic or machine learning product management, or strategic/analytical roles highly desired

  • Agile and Product Owner experience highly desired

  • Experience in turning a new business problem into an executable technical or analytical solution

  • Experience in impactful storytelling, communication, and relationship management across a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences

    • Develop storylines and deliver key messages through appropriate channels tailored to the audience’s perspectives and needs

    • Be able to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience

  • Comfortable with working on novel, ambiguous business problems with no clear-cut solutions while flexing different roles to achieve project success

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and to set priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives

  • Experience in leveraging Microsoft tools to develop compelling visuals articulating complex analytical topics

  • Experience with leading project execution and driving change to core business processes through the innovative use of quantitative techniques

  • Basic understanding of statistics, the analytical project lifecycle, data science concepts, Generative AI capabilities, data transformation, and data warehouse concepts

  • Domain knowledge in Insurance and KPIs is a plus
