Job Description:Job DescriptionBroadcom's Application Networking and Security (ANS) division delivers unparalleled solutions for Zero Trust Lateral Security and Modern Load Balancing the world’s most demanding enterprises. We enable a true Cloud operating model with self-service and automation for advanced security and software defined load balancer for VMs, bare-metal and container workloads running on VMware VCF Private Cloud - simplifying operations, securing private cloud and enabling rapid application deployment for digital enterprises.
As a Technical Product Manager (P4), you are the technical bridge between product vision and real-world implementation. Your mission is to ensure that our Distributed Firewall, Gateway Firewall, and Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) capabilities are not just "shipped," but are architecturally sound, operationally efficient, and evangelized across the global ecosystem.
Based in our Palo Alto HQ, you will act as the "Technical Truth" for the product. Working closely with the rest of the ANS Product Management (PM) team, you will be the technical authority who reviews feature feasibility, monitors engineering execution, and creates the prescriptive designs and high-level technical content that enables our customers and partners to succeed.
Core Responsibilities1. Feature Execution & Operational ExcellenceTechnical Review & Refinement: Partner with PMs to review feature definitions. Provide the technical "sanity check" on requirements to ensure they align with VCF architectural standards.
Engineering Alignment: Act as the primary PM interface for Engineering during development. Review technical implementations and provide feedback on trade-offs to ensure features are built for scale and ease of troubleshooting.
Operational Strategy: Drive the strategy for "Firewall Operations"—the set of features and workflows (logging, lifecycle, telemetry) that allow customers to manage vDefend at scale.
Validated Solutions: Drive the creation of Prescriptive Designs and validated solutions. Define exactly how Distributed and Gateway firewalls should be architected to work in harmony for a zero-trust posture.
Full-Stack Integration: Ensure Advanced Threat Prevention (IDS/IPS, Malware, NTA) is seamlessly integrated into the core firewall fabric and the broader VCF stack.
Solution-Based Content: Author high-fidelity technical content including Reference Architectures, Use-Case Guides, and Best Practices blogs.
Technical Evangelization: Represent the vDefend portfolio at industry conferences (e.g., VMware Explore), regional workshops, and executive briefings as the "face" of the technology.
Stakeholder Enablement: Design and deliver technical training for internal teams (Global Support, SAs, Professional Services), ensuring they are ready to deploy and support new designs on Day 1.
Experience & Education: BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field. Minimum of 8–10 years in a high-level technical role (TPM, Architect, or Senior Systems Engineer) with a focus on Network Security.
Security & Network Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of L2–L7 stateful firewalls, Distributed vs. Gateway architectures, and networking patterns.
Design & Operational Authority: Proven ability to create complex "Prescriptive Designs" and a deep understanding of the SecOps lifecycle (policy provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting).
Industry Certifications: High-level certifications such as VCDX, CCIE (Security), or CISSP are strongly preferred as a benchmark for architectural authority.
Automation Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, or Python. You must be able to demonstrate how security designs are realized through "Security-as-Code."
Leadership & Communication: Exceptional English fluency with the ability to influence global stakeholders.
Bridge the Gap: Ensure there is zero "lost in translation" between what the PM describes, what Engineering builds, and what the customer experiences.
Architect the "Golden Path": Your success is measured by the stability of our validated designs and the ease with which customers can operationalize the vDefend suite.
