About Mach9
Mach9 is pioneering the next era of the surveying and geospatial industry. Our AI-driven platform opens up a world of possibilities for the millions of surveyors and civil engineers responsible for supporting the $3 trillion infrastructure industry. With our market-defining technology, engineers can leverage geospatial data to complete projects faster than ever before.
Our first product, Mach9 Digital Surveyor is transforming the highly-manual surveying workflows by automatically extracting features (such as signs, curbs, and utility poles, etc.) from large-scale imagery and 3D datasets—delivering results up to 96 times faster than today’s labor-intensive process. By dramatically scaling what surveyors can achieve, Mach9 empowers the industry to accelerate infrastructure development, improve decision-making, and fundamentally reshape the way we build and maintain our world.
Mach9 is backed by Quiet Capital, Y Combinator, Overmatch Ventures, Kyle Vogt (founder of Cruise), Amar Hanspal (former CEO of Autodesk), Scott Belsky (CPO of Adobe), Gokul Rajaram (former executive at DoorDash), and more.
Position Overview
You will manage and deliver Mach9’s cutting edge machine learning product, from feature definitions to ontology to labeling tools.
Responsibilities:
-
Collect requirements across diverse customer segments. Conduct customer interviews and user research, along with data analysis, to understand what our customers find valuable and where their pain points currently are.
-
Work with engineers to understand training data requirements: types, volumes, sources, and data quality. Own the process of acquiring datasets and generating labels for machine learning.
-
Develop labeling standards and policies in collaboration with our annotation and perception teams. Own the overall quality of annotations from internal and external annotator teams.
-
Own the end-to-end process of acquiring or developing the 3D annotation tools required for producing relevant data.
-
Write clear product specifications that outline the desired outcomes, constraints, and success criteria for ML-driven features.
-
Define and track key performance metrics for ML training data quality, annotation accuracy, and model performance in real-world applications.
-
Manage multiple product initiatives, ensuring projects are on track and communicating progress and challenges to stakeholders.
Requirements:
-
5+ years of experience in product management, ideally in a startup or tech-driven environment.
-
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent experience working as a software engineer. Some background in machine learning concepts is preferred.
-
Proficiency in SQL; Python is a plus.
-
Strong ability to present and advocate product decisions to diverse stakeholders.
-
Detail-oriented, process-driven, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
-
Background with AI/ML systems, including data collection, labeling, adherence to standards, model architecture and training, common limitations, and practical applications in real-world scenarios.
-
Experience with geospatial or surveying applications, understanding the user personas within surveying and mapping organizations and how they interact with geospatial software, like Esri, Autodesk Civil3D, and Bentley MicroStation.
