- Define & Execute Payments Product Strategy – Work with Product and Engineering leadership to develop and own the payments roadmap, focused on unifying our processors, banking partners, and payment methods into a single, scalable orchestration platform for pay-ins, routing, and settlement. This requires a platform-first, reusable-component mindset.
- Own the Payment Orchestrator – Drive the evolution of our in-house orchestrator and its rules engine: intelligent routing across processors, and fallback and resilience logic. Balance authorization rates, cost per transaction, and reliability. Own reconciliation and settlement health across processors and banking partners, driving toward automation.
- Hands-On Data Analysis & Experimentation – Own payment metrics and have a hands-on relationship with the data. You must be able to navigate complex dashboards, run simple to medium-complexity SQL queries to validate hypotheses, and partner with Data Analysts and Engineers to drive improvements in conversion, acceptance, and authorization.
- Expand Payment Methods & Rails – Partner directly with engineering to design, build, and launch payment methods and integrations across cards, wallets, ACH, cash, and additional processors and settlement banks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Engineering, Finance (reconciliation, treasury, revenue recognition), and Operations (payment ops, disputes) to develop scalable solutions.
- Fraud Coordination - Partner with Fraud to monitor fraud performance by payment method and supply the data needed for fraud checkpoints.
- Partner & BD Coordination - Partner with Business Development on processor and banking partner negotiations.
- Stakeholder & Partner Management – Communicate payments strategy and impact to executive leadership, and manage relationships with payment processors, acquiring and banking partners, and card networks.
- 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on payments, ideally in a fast-paced startup or growth environment where you were a primary builder.
- Proven technical fluency & resourcefulness. Ability to work with engineering teams on API-based payments solutions, demonstrated ability to run simple SQL queries, and a clear understanding of data pipelines and system resilience (e.g. timeouts, fallbacks, service dependencies).
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem (payment orchestration, processors/PSPs, acquiring and banking partners, card networks, authorization and settlement flows, tokenization, and reconciliation), or a track record of rapidly acquiring deep domain knowledge in a new technical area.
- Experience owning payment performance metrics (authorization rate, conversion, processing cost, GMV) and using them to drive product improvements.
- Experience working with payment processors and orchestration, and familiarity with alternative rails (ACH, BNPL, wallets, stablecoins) is a strong plus.
- Strong ownership and a bias towards action; comfortable working hands-on rather than delegating.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, especially with fraud, finance, compliance, and exec teams, as well as external partners.
- Passion for fintech and digital finance innovation.
- These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
